If you go into Printing preferences before you print, you want to go into the tab that is calle dsomething to the effect of Paper/Quality. Look for the section called Paper Option. Under paper option there should be a part that lets you choose the paper size, there is where you can choose Envelope #10. Make sure also you have the Lexmark Universal Driver installed for this printer.
What is the error code from page 69 and 70 of the E-232 manual?
Here is the webpage to download anything that you may be missing. The manual has a very complete section on complete clearing of jams.
This can happen a lot if you're using very light weight paper. Also, if the paper is not flat it can jam up too. Best thing you can do is get yourself some higher quality paper and keep it in a air tight tub after you open it.
The problem sounds like your rollers have lost their grip. Remove the paper tray and tip the printer up. Push the red lever on the left of the printer down and you will see the feed mechanism with two wheels. Remove the rubbers on the wheels and turn them inside out. Replace them on the wheels with the worn side now inside and the 'sticky" side out. You should get at least another couple of years worth of use before you need to replace them.
If this model has separate toner and photoconductor then the photoconductor is at end of life and needs to be replaced. Follow the directions that come in the new photoconductor package to install and reset the PC count this is important.
set both trays to correct paper type and size on printer, also look at settings in print driver on pc (printers and faxs / right click on lexmark driver and properties check all settings.
