SOURCE: My Garmin Nuvi 250 GPS power and USB connector is

you will have to open the unit and solder it back to the pcb board. This is a difficult job and requires some knowledge of working with micro size components. You will need a magnifying lens preferably one that is hands free and strong, a fine point soldering set up, a #5 screw driver set with star and philips tips. There are 2 screws on the back lower area under the label. You can buy plastic tools to open the case. Be careful. separate it slowly all the way around. There is a ribbon wire connected to the lcd so don't rip it open. Remove the screws on the pcb board connecting it to the back case. Unplug the speaker and the battery. Good luck.....

My garmin in nuvi 1350 will not charge it keeps saying the battery is low

Nuvi 1350 charges in 4 to 8 hours. If your Nuvi is not accepting a charge, you may have a loose or bad USB cable. Note that the Nuvi can be charged with a phone charger. Charging it with a connection to a computer moves charging time toward 8 hours and more towards infinity if you don't have the driver installed on the computer. Turn the Garmin off. If the driver ins installed in the coputer, plug the Garmin into the computer and then hold down the power button on the Garmin for 30 seconds.

How do I charge this garmin nuvi using my computer.

Just connect the satnav to your computer with the mini USB lead. The narrow end goes in the back of the satnav and the other end in the USB port of your computer. You need to have the computer turned on and if the satnav doesn't turn on automatically turn it on also. It will take approximately 8 hours to charge.

My son bought this for me, and he has taken the user manual (if there was one) to New Zealand with him - he lives there. Can I obtain another manual? I don't know a) how to charge the battery and b)...

Here is your Owner's Manual:
http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/2675_OwnersManual.pdf

To Charge Your Nuvi:
  • Connect the vehicle power cable to the mini-USB connector on your nuvi and to a power outlet in your vehicle. The vehicle key may need to be turned ON/ACC for the nuvi to charge.
  • Connect an AC adapter (optional accessory) to the nuvi and a wall outlet.
  • Connect your nuvi to a computer using a USB cable. The USB cable is included with some Nuvi packages. The computer must be on for the nuvi to charge.

How instal maps on sd memori card for garmin nuvi 250

Hello

Insert the memory card into the memory card slot on Garmin Nuvi 250 GPS device. The memory card slot is located on the left side of the device. Push the card in until it clicks. (If you inserted a memory card that already has pre-installed maps and files, there is no further action required. The device will access the new maps based on the address you enter.)

Connect the Garmin GPS to the computer using the USB cable. The mini-USB connector will need to be inserted into the rear of the Nuvi 250; the larger end is inserted into the computer's USB port.

Locate the computer file that you want to download to the Garmin memory card. The Nuvi 250 is capable of reading JPEG formatted images and GPX formatted Waypoints and other mapping-related files. Right-click on it. Select "Copy."

Select the "Computer" folder from the computer's desktop Start menu. Double-click on the "Removable Disk" drive that represents the Garmin Nuvi.

Right-click in an empty space within the drive and select "Paste." The files have now downloaded to the memory card and will be accessible through the Nuvi 250 menu options.

Good Luck, and do rate the solution if got help

My garmin is not charging while connected to my computer

Try it on a different computer: sometimes the USB connection is simply unable to provide sufficient power on some machines. If that fails then try a different USB lead as yours may be faulty. If the unit charges correctly in the car, then the USB socket on your Garmin is definitely OK.

When plugged into pc get error on pc power surge on usb hub port

Some computers have a limited power capacity on the USB ports, another possibility is that your gps battery is too low to be charged via the USB connection, try charging it with a wall or car adapter first, then connect to your pc.

USB connector in the back is loose and will not

If the connector in the back is loose, its not a Nuvi 350. A nuvi 350 has the connector on the side. In any event, please see this link:

Nuvi 250 will not turn on when charging.

There are two types of leads that you can buy.

The one supplied with the Garmin expects you to plug the GPS into the PC via the USB and if you use this to try and charge your Garmin in your car it will think it is connected to the PC and show the connection screen. it will charge the unit but you can't see the map.!!!

Make sure that you buy a lead specially for the Garmin for use in the car its the only type of SAT NAV that you will have this problem with.
