This unit comes with a charger (AC). There is alxo a car charger. Both have a USB connecter that plugs into the side of your unit.

I can help you reset and fix your Garmin Nuvi 265W.

Getting stuck on the flashing Garmin logo, or a message about not finding any maps, are indications that the firmware / system software inside your GPS has been corrupted. Don't skip the hard reset step (or the backup step!)

There are three steps to take to get your Nuvi 265W running like new:

1. Back up your Favorites.
2. Perform a Hard Reset.
3. Download and then run Garmin WebUpdater to replace its firmware / system software.

I experienced the same problem about acquiring satellite signal even when it's a clear sunny day. After 30 mintues, it was still searching! The unit appeared to have "stuck" in this acquiring mode. The following worked for me: 1) open the GPS antenna 2) press the bottom left screen while holding the power button to turn the unit on 3) enter maintenace mode 4) select diagnostics 5) clear error report, do NOT clear any user data 6) restart unit the usual way My GPS 350 was able to acquire satellite signal in less than 1 minute after the above steps were taken.

the only thing i can find is this I suggest you save all your way-points, then do the deed. 1. Turn the device OFF. 2. Place your fingertip or the eraser end of a pencil in the top right corner of the touchscreen. 3. Apply pressure in the top right corner of the screen. 4. While pressing down on the screen, power ON the unit and continue pressing on the screen. A message displays to confirm if you really want to delete all user data? 5. Touch Yes. 6. The unit will now restart. 7. Follow the onscreen prompts to set up the nuvi. Once the reset is complete, please place your unit in an area with clear view of the sky until it acquires satellites. satellite codes are uselessly updated in firmware and work with the software but if the info is incomplete you will lose the satellites config settings. the codes are always updating. and most look for 15 satellites and then chooses the strongest 3-4-5 for pin point. but try this and see if it works but you need to save your data if you have it stored IE address. as it might delete them.

Check settings on your nav unit. Maybe power button is disabled and set to power on when external power is applied.

You can upgrade the unit software for free. I think you are trying to update the installed maps, which isn't a free feature.

Do a hard reset on your GPS.

1. Start with the device turned off and unplugged from power.
2. Power on the device.
3. When the first copyright screen appears press and hold the lower right hand corner of the display portion of the touchscreen.

Try using a compatible SD card to have Garmin Express load all 49 states to the SD card. It is possible that you do not have enough free memory in your NUVI 350 for all 49 states.

You are out of luck. Garmin will only talk to and assist registered owners. The registered owner has to deregister the device before a new owner register it and update the maps.

Try charging your battery.

If you're happy with the satnav you have it's cheaper to update. You have the option of buying a once off map update or a lifetime update. That is for the lifetime of the satnav not your life. With a lifetime update, which costs around 120 euros, you get 4 updates each year. This is the cheapest option. However the only problem with this method is that the maps get bigger each time you update and the space on your satnav stays the same. I started off with a full map of Europe and now I'm only able to store Western Europe on my garmin nuvi 760. You can use memory cards to hold some of the map but older garmin satnavs have a problem recognising the maps on memory cards. If you need the full map you might be better buying a new satnav every few years. If you only use part of the map a lifetime update might be the best option.

If you decide to go for a new satnav I would suggest that you go for one with the biggest storage space possible and then get a lifetime update or get a model that comes with lifetime updates like the 3790LMT. You can judge the storage size by the amount of maps it comes with. The 3790 model has the complete USA + Canada and Mexico or the 2370LT comes with maps of Europe and USA, lifetime traffic updates but not lifetime maps.

Garmin puts out map updates on a regular basis. You must purchase these. The GPS comes loaded with maps that are current as of the date of production of the unit. It cannot "know" when new roads are paved and new subdivision are created without being "told" via map updates. The unit knows where it is in relation to the maps loaded on it by receiving signals from the GPS satellites in orbit. If things change, the maps must be changed in order for the unit to give you correct directions.
