I have an HP 3200 series printer. I was scanning a document, it scanned one page of the document and then I got an error message on the printer LCD:
79: Service Error
476: CSCANINT.CPP
I have tried resetting the printer by turning off the power. Once power is restored, the printer comes on like it is warming up. Both the "ready" and "error" lights are illuminated. Then, both the "ready" and "error" lights go off and "HP Laserjet 3200" is displayed on the LCD. I have tried to reinitialize the printer (hold * + enter/menu key followed with a power on). Nothing works. It is like it has lost all communication capabilities.
Any ideas as to what to try next?
The only fix I have used is a cold reset there is a firmware upgrade you can try if this does not work.
TRY THIS:
Turn the machine off and unplug for 1 minute or so.
Plug the unit back in:
Press and Hold the enter/menu key and asterisk key
Turn ON
Hold the enter/menu key and asterik key while the unit powers up. Once you see the message "Permanent Storage Initialization" let go of the keys.
Hope this helps

I tried that, no such luck. I'm guessing that the DIMM that contains the firmware has gone bad. Will see if I can find a replacement to debug the problem further.
Thanks,
then it shuts off and then back on and says ready.
