I have a laptop that i am trying to print off of and it is not working. my printer is hooked up to my desktop and works there. i think it may be that my printer i have now (canon pixma mp210) isn't connected to my laptop. also is the printer i have wireless or do i have to buy an adapter to make it wireless.
The Pixma MP210 does not support a wireless connection. It has a USB port. Some wireless routers do have USB ports and can thus share the printer. Similarly, there are print server options that can be connected to the USB port. However, these will not work with the scanner functions of the all-in-one. Also you would need to confirm that the print server you choose is compatible with the Pixma MP210.
The fastest way to print right now is to connect the USB cord to the laptop. Wait for the drivers to be installed and then send the file to the printer. Moving the cable will let both computers use the scanner features of the all-in-one. A manual USB A/B switch might allow you to share the printer with fewer chances for a damaged USB cable. However, these usually don't support the scanner. Scanning requires bi-directional communication between the printer and the computer. A bad USB cable can turn an all-in-one into a single function printer with a direct USB connection.
Once the MP210 driver is on both systems and they are connected to the same network, you may be able to set up the desktop as a print server for the laptop. This will depend on the OS on both systems. Something like the Windows Homegroup easily allows printer sharing when enabled for systems with Windows 7 and newer on a private network. Both systems need to join the same homegroup. One system starts the homegroup. Then you have to type in the password on the second computer. This works even with one system connected to the wireless network and the other connected to a wired port on the router.
On Vista and XP, you could enable printer sharing as well in the Network and Sharing center. See https://www.wikihow.com/Share-a-Printer for the steps With Windows OS versions, the scanner functions will only be available on the computer with the direct USB connection.
I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the OS versions on both the desktop and the laptop if you need more specific advice.

SOURCE: Printing wirelessly to a Canon MP600
1) you need it to print from a laptop if you do not want to have to set up another computer, and mobile phone have bluetooth buit in
2) YES
3) set up the printer on another computer, and set it for sharing. Then make sure that you laptop is recognized in the network connections wizard, then on the laptop select add new printer and select the bullett that say a network printer. the rest is pretty easy, select browse for a printer or something, it is the first option, select it, say yes to all dialogue boxes, and let the computer do the rest.

SOURCE: Canon PIXMA MP210
Hi. This might be stating the obvious, but try cleaning the contacts in the printer and on the cartridge with isopropal alcohol. I have a Canon Pixma MP520 which I have had for most of this year now, and it works fine. I am not sure if I will be buying another Canon printer after the problems I have just read on FixYa though! Another thing you might try is carefully bending the contacts on the printer that touch the copper strips on the cartridge to ensure they touch properly. I have not looked too closely at mine, but I presume there must be copper contacts of some sort that are spring loaded, which press up against the contacts on the cartridge when it is installed. Hope that helps.

In order to do this, the laptops have to be able to communicate with each other wirelessly. I.e., you have to have a wireless network set up. If you do, then you are "printer sharing", using one laptop as the 'printer server' (with the printer connected to it) and the other as the 'client'. Step by step instructions are available at this link. Type "printer sharing" in the search box in the center of the screen and click on the Search button. Select the option that matches your requirements.
