Computer will not shut down

Procedure to reboot your Toshiba laptop may vary depending upon which version of Windows you are using. Refer to the steps below that match your Windows version:

For Windows 8:
If there's a Power icon on your Start screen, tap or click it, and then tap or click "Restart". Else, follow the steps below:
1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap "Settings".
(If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, and then click "Settings".)
2. Tap or click "Power", and then tap or click "Restart".
For all other Windows versions:
1. Click the "Start" button
2. Click the arrow next to the Shut Down button
3. Click "Restart"

1. Click "Start" button
2. Click "Shut Down"
3. Select "Restart" in the drop-down menu below "What do you want the computer to do?"

First, let's see if the computer is recognizing the mouse. Unplug the mouse, restart the computer, and then re-plug the mouse. Typically, the computer, in the bottom right side of the screen will attempt to re-establish connection to the mouse.

If it does not, then re-downloading the driver for the mouse (if a disc was not provided with it) will help the computer recognize the mouse and the connection.

Hello you should have a transmitter pluged into a usb port on your computer,There may be a button you need to push and hold down for a few seconds on this unit.there may also be a small hole on the bottom of your mouse you can push with the tip of a pencil. Doing this will reconnect your mouse to the computer.If this fails unplug the transmitter from the computer and shut it down reconnect it and restart the computer.

First try the normal methods to remove the disc. Drag its icon to the Trash can in the Dock or select 'Eject' from the File menu. If you are running a virtual machine, e.g. VMFusion, ensure that the CD is disconnected from the virtual machine. This will sometimes allow the CD to now show up in Mac OS X. Shut down the computer and start up whilst holding down the mouse button. This may take some time, but keep your finger on the mouse button right up until the disc comes out or the log-in screen has appeared. If you have Toast Titanium installed on your computer, choose EJECT DISC from the menubar. Sometimes you can successfully use the eject disc button in iTunes even if the disc is not visible to the Finder Open Disk Utility and choose the disc you wish to eject in the left-hand pane, then click on the Eject button. Some Macintoshes have a paperclip hole that you can insert a straightened paperclip into, manually triggering the eject mechanism. Open Terminal and type "drutil tray eject" to eject the disc/tray, and "drutil tray close" to close the tray. Restart the computer while holding down Command-Option-O-F, to enter the Open Firmware prompt. Type "eject cd" without the quotes, and press return. The disk ought to eject. To start into OS X, type "mac-boot" without the quotes. Press return, and the computer will continue with the startup. (This will not work on an Intel Mac. There is no Open Firmware on Intel Macs. ) If your computer has an eject button on the keyboard, restart the computer holding down the Option key. When the startup disk selection screen appears, let go of the option key and press the keyboard's eject button.

-try t drain everything out of the computer first; remove the power adapter then remove the battery; after 1 minute try again; if problem persists run diagnostics
--while the computer is off, press and hld the "Fn" key then press the power button at the same time to start the test; note down error message then consult manufacturer for the code obtained. if no errors found it is a windows problem; you need to reinstall windows on the computer

the only thing you do is restart computer on restart hold down f8 now scroll upto safe mode
and press enter
follow on screen till you are in windows
then restart computer

Is your keyboard also wireless? Check batteries on all wireless devices. If batteries are fine, restart your computer (hold down your power button until your computer shuts down unless you have a reset button) and then try unplugging and plugging back in your wireless receiver, then hit your connect buttons starting with your keyboard followed by your mouse.

hit f8 numerous times at startup, and start in safe mode

Restart installing windows xp again... in that way it could fix the problem... But make sure that you have inserted your mouse and keyboard the right way.... check it again it's color coded... Keyboard and mouse really doesn't work if interchanged.
