Error message when reinstalling updated driver to new computer

I solved my own problem. Basic problem was that I bought a new computer and was unable to get my old printer to work with it. The new computer was a Dell Intel Core i5 all- in- one with Windows 7 64 bit operating system. I wanted to connect this new computer to my old Brother MFC 7420 printer so I used the Brother installation disc that I originally got with my printer. I immediately realized that Widows 7 was not supported by this disc,as this is an older printer, so I connected to Brother's Solution Center and tried to download their updated driver. I carefully followed their directions, including using the uninstall tool to remove old drives and then attempted to install the new driver, but was told repeatedly that I did not have enough free space on my hard drive, which was insane because this computer has almost 1 TB of free space on the hard drive and the Brother driver was something like 44MB. I called Brother and repeatedly went through each of the uninstall and install steps, including powering the machines on and off and on and off. Finally I resorted to the one thing that seems to cure most of these problems, but I almost always forget to do until I'm desperate, is to restore the computer to a point before I started messing with it. It worked. Not only did it work on the new computer, but I was also able to get it to work with the other new computer in our network. I solved my own problem. One detail to add to the fix i wrote about earlier is that when I restored the computer to before the time I started messing with it, I was then able to successfully reboot the computer and re-install the updated driver from Brother's website. I think the problem began when I tried to load the original brother disc to my new computer. The uninstall tool provided by Brother's website, likely did not uninstall the bad outdated disc I tried to load. When I stored the computer, it reverted back to the time before I tried to install the outdated disc.
