Side by side fridge freezer

I have a 2 1/2 yr Samsung side by side fridge freezer exhibiting similar probs to owner of this type - it's condenser hums and two weeks back I lost freezer side cold temperature resulting in lost provisions -I have cleaned coils as recommended and its worked ok for 2 weeks. This model is a RS20 CCSV (no icemaker - digital diplay/control on freezer door)- problem seems intermittent. After a power cut yesterday the digital display seems to have swapped sides i.e. Temp on fridge side is displaying freezer range temp and vice versa. I switched the supply off again and waited 10 mins before reconnecting but to no effect. Display is currently reading -6 on Freezer side but when freezer temp button is pressed displays -23. Display on fridge side is currently reading 16 ?? !! but when fridge temp button is pressed displays 2 Both temp level pictorial displays have all bars lit. Freezer appears to be maintaining cold temp but fridge temp is suspect - nothing cold to the touch Would this be controller prob or condenser starter prob ? would really appreciate some help/guidance here please. As I'm nervous to load too many provisions into it at the moment - situated on South East Coast England if I need qualified repair service could you also please advise of competent Company to contact please as its out of warranty - locals won't touch it.

Based on your weird display issues I'd lean toward the control board problem. At least that can be "one" of a couple problems...

Frigidaire frs26h5asb5

Hi Gary,

If your evaporator is not completely frosting over (top to bottom) this normally means the unit doesn't have a proper charge or the compressor can't pump all the freon as it needs to. I would check the charge, this should read "0", if less not enough, if higher than the compressor is failing. I hope this helps.

GE - SIDE BY SIDE MODEL TFX25JR - Continous HUM

Probably the condenser fan motor is going out they will often make noise for a long time before anyone notices. Get it looked at soon. overheating the compressor on that old of a fridge could spell trouble.

Freezer running, ice maker not producing, hot in middle divder.

The dividing section should be warm, to keep unit from sweating. (by design). Cleaning under the refrigerator was what cooled it down. You cleaned the condenser. The condenser allows the refrigerent to cool down. When it was dirty, the condenser could not get enough air to cool down.

Loud noise from the freezer side

The problem is a buildup of ice on the plastic housing (the curved plastic bit) in the back of the freezer under the fixed shelf where the icetub goes. The fan behind this plastic housing is hitting the ice when the defrost comes on.

Unplug the fridge, unpack the freezer, remove the four screws in the back, take off the sheetmetal backing and let the fridge thaw. You can remove the plastic piece after a while and get the ice off (be careful not to remove the styrofoam insulation by going too quickly).

Reassemble and you're back in business, for a few months. I'm never buying Samsung again myself.

Refrigerator not cooling

see if the compressor motor is running

The compressor is a football-sized case with no apparent moving parts. It's on the outside of the refrigerator at the back near the bottom. If it is humming or making a continuous noise and your refrigerator is still not cooling, there may be a more serious problem with one or more of several different components, we recommend contacting a qualified appliance repair technician for further help.

If the compressor is not running but you do have power to the refrigerator, there may be a problem with one or more of these:

  • The compressor

  • The Thermostat

  • The overload, relay, or capacitor

  • The defrost timer

  • The condenser fan motor

Samsung RS2555SL humming noise

don't know this model specifically, but have had loads of problems with these samsung fridge-freezers. the no water in drinks dispensor is probably due to the water bottle at the bottom of the fridge being frozen. this is endemic with samsung the noise you hear is ice hitting fan. samsung use two systems for fan. the one i think you have is separate fans for fridge and freezer and a separate evaperator for fridge and freezer. take of the back plate of the fridge and you will find the fan mounted in it. disconnect the plug and socket connection. you will probably find ice build up round the fan blade. melt off with hot water. the bar you had showing on the "8" is a fault code - the most common fault being the defrost termination sensor. unless you are experienced, this is not really a diy appliance
