Not solution but my problem- DCP-195C -My Printer is not giving me any messages- not even low black ink, yet the black is not printing, although other colours print.The Black cartidge I have I bougt about 4 weeks ago, but only inserted it 4 days ago- with not much printing in those 4 days. I then put another new cartidge, out of the plastic sleeve- and it still prints all except the black printing. Could it be that the 2 cartidges I bought were emplty at purchase in the box - (the first one now one weighs 42 gram after being in the printer 4 days, and the new one inserted weighs 43 grams. (That means at lest one gram of ink is in the newer cartridge) yet still no printing. The printer is about 18 months old- and the shop assistant says that I should just buy a new printer.????

Hi there. . . okay . . . Follow this step 1.) Unplug your printer. 2.) Plug your printer again while holding the menu button 15 sec. 3.) select 8 by using the arrow buttons ,push OK and select 0 and push OK 4.) then numbers appear looks like this ###:### ###:###. 5.) now push the MONO button until the purge:#### appears on the LCD 6.) Problem with my printer Brother MFC-240C "Print unable 4F"
Access the internal maintenance mode by pressing the Menu/Set button, then press * 2 8 6 4 within 2 seconds. This should put you in the maintenance mode menu. Enter 80, then scroll down with the arrow down (round) key. You'll find an entry listed as purge count. If number is over 6000, enter 2 7 8 3.

This will reset the purge count value. Then the printer will restart, try this step by step.without missing any thing. thanks

I have the same error message “Check the Troubleshooting and Routine Maintenance Chapter in User's Guide" I called customer service for "BROTHER 1-800-284-4329 USA; 1-877-BROTHER for CANADA. The Tech’s and I performed a series of diagnostic test, via the phone but were unable to solve the problem... Brother seem to believe that I have a defected printer head, Brother referred me to a local authorize service agent for Brother. I do have my User's Guide and there is no additional information that I was able to use to resolve this problem. HOW EVER, I am able to get the machine to print by opening the cover and close it as if I had installed ink, or removed a paper jam “SIMPLY OPEN AND CLOSE THE COVER”. I also vacuumed and blew the insides and the outside buttons of the machine with forced air from my vacuum, after all that I still have the same problem. My solution...buy a new machine mine is 32 months old and I probably have ran 15k or more print, fax, and copy jobs.
Some times we need to know when to move on, TIME IS MONEY AND TIME WASTED IS UN-REFUNDABLE.
