Hi, yeah I did try the firmware when I was there the other day and that didnt work either. I dont know if this matters but it did ask me to make a copy of the firmware and I couldn't because the disk couldnt be recognized to copy it. Do I have to copy it or do you have any other suggestions? Thank You Very Much
Lets see let me diagnose your computer first, is it visible to my computer and what kind of operating system are you using, 2nd can you give me the link of the said firmware (the download page), 3rd go to properties of dvdRW and go to recording tab and make sure that the default burner is the dvdRW that ur using and make sure everything is checked inluding the one on the global settings, check device manager if theres a yellow exclamation point, If there is a yellow exclamation point and you cant see it on my computer then you need to delete something on your registry,

I also found this: This optical drive is a Plug 'n Play device in Windows OS's. The only
requirement is connection to a WORKING SATA controller. Check in Device
Manager to insure the sata controller is working/enabled and you
shouldn't have any problem. Windows will auto-detect / auto-install the
drive without user intervention once this condition has been met.
Additionally, you will need 3rd. party recording and dvd decoding
software in order to use all the functions this drive was built to
perform, ie: play dvd movie disks and record to dvd and cd-rw disks.
Windows is sorta limited on what all it will support.... that's the
reason for the additional 3rd. party software like Nero or Roxio and
PowerDVD or WinDVD.

Yeah I could not find the manual myself. Email Zenith with details on the problem, ask them: A reset procedure or a Master Password for the system password, without password you cannot change regional settings. A copy of the user manual possibly in PDF sent into your Email.
With the master password you change old password and regional settings. Zenith customer service answers within 24 hours.
