820b DVD E Drive

Hi, yeah I did try the firmware when I was there the other day and that didnt work either. I dont know if this matters but it did ask me to make a copy of the firmware and I couldn't because the disk couldnt be recognized to copy it. Do I have to copy it or do you have any other suggestions? Thank You Very Much

Lets see let me diagnose your computer first, is it visible to my computer and what kind of operating system are you using,
2nd can you give me the link of the said firmware (the download page),
3rd go to properties of dvdRW and go to recording tab and make sure that the default burner is the dvdRW that ur using and make sure everything is checked inluding the one on the global settings,
check device manager if theres a yellow exclamation point,
If there is a yellow exclamation point and you cant see it on my computer then you need to delete something on your registry,

DVD Writer Model SH-S223 dont read

Hi firma,

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but check ou tthis link to the SH -S223F firmware:

http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/FIRMWARE/Samsung/Samsung-SH-S223F-DVD-Writer-Firmware-SB03.shtml

I also found this:
This optical drive is a Plug 'n Play device in Windows OS's. The only requirement is connection to a WORKING SATA controller. Check in Device Manager to insure the sata controller is working/enabled and you shouldn't have any problem. Windows will auto-detect / auto-install the drive without user intervention once this condition has been met.

Additionally, you will need 3rd. party recording and dvd decoding software in order to use all the functions this drive was built to perform, ie: play dvd movie disks and record to dvd and cd-rw disks. Windows is sorta limited on what all it will support.... that's the reason for the additional 3rd. party software like Nero or Roxio and PowerDVD or WinDVD.

Here is a link to InfraRecorder:
http://infrarecorder.org/

WinDVD:
http://windvd.en.softonic.com/

PowerDVD:

Nero:

Hope this helps, let me know how you made out in a comment, if you need more help, feel free to ask in the comment.

Tried 2 download sound and dvd drivers from net but they didnt work, plus there are so many can u recommend the best ones that are guaranteed to work? thanks.

You need to know the exact sound card you have before you can locate the right drivers. The dvd drive should work as good as expected with windows default drivers along with the correct firmware from the manufacturer of the dvd drive you have

RE CHANGING REGIONAL CODE FROM US - AU

Yeah I could not find the manual myself. Email Zenith with details on the problem, ask them:
A reset procedure or a Master Password for the system password, without password you cannot change regional settings.
A copy of the user manual possibly in PDF sent into your Email.

With the master password you change old password and regional settings.
Zenith customer service answers within 24 hours.

LG GSA-H55N Problem

There are 2 seperate lenses for CD's and DVD's, If you have had the drive for a while it is likely to be either 2 things.

1 - possible dust on DVD lens, try a lens cleaning disk..
2 - if 1 didnt work its likely the DVD lens is burnt out and you need to replace the drive..

However before replacing drive try downloading new firmware from LG site and then try once more..
