HP7780 not printing any color - HP Officejet Pro L7780 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Take color copy, test all colors are OK..Go to printer properties, printing preferences, finishing check is there any check mark on print in black cartridge only? mark on print color..apply..OK.. give print command..
Go to paint draw a color drawing, print it.> check colors if its not printing in color it might be drivers issue.. un install the drivers re install once again check..> if printed in color check the file which you are printed..take another file.. then test..

Check the settings software that came with the printer. Many of them allow you to block applications from printing in color to prevent wasted color printing. Many default to no color on Internet printing and you have to tell it to print color to get color.

The 3550 won't print in any color if any of the colors are out. You'll have to replace the color ink that's empty to get it to print.

In the future, if you're just printing black and white, you can select "Print in Grayscale" from the print properties to just use the black ink cartridge, which will help the color cartridges to last longer.

1. Click Start, Programs, Lexmark Series.
   
2. Click Lexmark Control Panel.
   
3. Click Print Cartridge installation.
   
4. Depending on which cartridges you are using and which printer model you have, select Install Color Cartridge or Install Black Cartridge or Install Photo Cartridge.
   
5. Carefully remove the tape covering the printhead of the print cartridge. Important: Be sure to remove all of the tape. Do not touch the copper area on the back of the cartridge.
   
6. Insert the print cartridge into the print cartridge carrier.
   
7. Push the cartridge back until it clicks into place.
   
   
   
   • If the print cartridge moves loosely in the carrier, it is not locked into place. Repeat step 7.
   
   
8. Click the appropriate Cartridge Installed option in the printer software.
   
   
   
   • If you choose to install a new print cartridge, you will be prompted to align your print cartridges. The printer will print a page with a bi-directional alignment pattern. Follow these steps to align the cartridges:
     
     
     
     1. On the printed test page, locate the number under the Bi-directional Alignment pattern that comes closest to forming a straight line.
        
     2. Enter the number as the Bi-directional Alignment setting in the Alignment Cartridge screen.
        
     3. Click OK.
   
   
9. Close the front cover of the printer.

If when you attempt to print only with the black cartridge installed but it won't print, then this specific printer requires that color ink also be installed. Typical with most inkjets.

The colors on your computer monitor might differ from the device output. Select Screen Match in the Color tab of the printer driver. If extremely light colors or extremely dark colors on screen are not printing, your software program might interpret extremely light colors as white or extremely dark colors as black. If possible, avoid using extremely light or extremely dark colors. The media might not meet HP specifications. Use a different paper, such as high-quality paper that is intended for color laser printers. The finish on the printed color page is inconsistent.

The media might be too rough. Use a smooth paper or print media, such as a high-quality paper that is made for color laser printers. Generally, smoother media produces better results. Always try replacing the ink cartridges first.

It sounds like the print heads in the 7780 are bad. Don't confuse the ink cartridges with print heads. The cartridges fit inside the print heads. You will need to change the heads. Here is a link to HP's how-to.

Please follow the steps given below to disable the gray scale printing.

1. In the software application you are trying to print from, click File , and then click Print . The Print dialog box opens.
2. Make sure your printer is selected, then click Preferences . The printer Preferences dialog box opens.
3. Select the Color tab, then make sure that the Print in grayscale option is not selected.

Go to HP solution center and check the settings if the color printing option is enabled or not.

Now print a color image you want.

I had the exact same problem but never could get my Mac to work wirelessly with my 7780 even though the box said it was wireless and worked with OSX....false advertising.  Enough of the problem though.
I set up my printer through my Airport Extreme network.  That solution worked sporadically.  I would get error messages that the computer could not open the printer.  I found clicking the "pause" print button and then clicking "resume" would often work but needless to say that became a pain.
So, my IT guy set the printer up through it's IP address over my airport extreme network.  The printed has worked flawlessly for the last week since this change but.....the fax no longer works and now the scanner takes about 3 minutes per page.
Overall, I have been a die hard HP fan for years but after the nightmares with the L7780, I will NEVER use another HP product.  The item cost me about $459 but I have lost or spent over $5,000 in diminished productivity and IT charges and it STILL DOESN'T WORK AS ADVERTISED!
