You can try uninstall and install printer driver or try a known good connectivity cable.

If you are getting a low ink message no you will not be able to fax until this is resolved. Once you replace the ink cart. then you can get to the steps where you can clear the fax memory until then the steps that we would give you will not work.

You can visit www.canon.com click on your printer model then on support and you can download the manual in this manual there will be step by step instructions on how to clear the memory on the fax. this can also be cleard once you print them keep that in mind. so first purchse ink then your going to print your faxes by hitting that button twice the reason why it will not work now is because your low on ink.

Remove the cartridges. Inspect the cartridges to ensure all packaging is removed. Reinstall the cartridges. Press the ON/OFF button for 2 seconds. Unplug the printer and wait 10 seconds. Check the printer for any obstructions including packaging materials

Remove the scanner cover. Open the lid - check for paper that is stuck; these can be very small pieces, so look carefully
