Bobing not catching needle
Hi, not catching the thread, my fears, broken gear, hope not.
Lets try a new needle, perhaps when pulling the thread and fabric out of the machine, and I'm guessing, you may have pulled it towards you. This can bend the needle forward, and it wills start dropping stitches.
If a new needle doesn't work, double check the threading of the top tension. Pretty sure that is ok, but just a precaution. If nothing still, remove the bobbin, and thread from the machine. With the slide plate open, turn the machine towards you, and watch where the bobbin goes in.
You should see the hook spin around in a counter clockwise motion. If not, then I'd say it is the top gear that went bad. I have them, but doubt it would reach you in time for Christmas. If you need a gear, and obtain locally, I do have a repair guide that shows how to install, retime the machine, and have you up and running again. Might be the bottom timing belt as well, but doubtful.
