How to adjust the stich lenght on a juki ddl 553 strite stich.

I still don't understand this. I have acquiured a juki DDL 553 recently to discover I have no idea how to change the stitch length and that there is no reverse stitch. I have pressed the black button and have tried to turn the side?( the wheel?) but when i push down on the black button there is no way to turn the wheel it doesn't move, maybe there is some other part I'm supposed to be moving??

What size of neddles do I need for a juki MO2416N

The actual size needle depends on what fabric you are sewing. Lower numbers for light fabrics and higher numbers for heavier fabrics. I use mainly 10, 12 and 14 for normal cottons.

Motor stopped; locked handwheel

Remove the needles. See if the handwheel moves now. Since it's a new machine, consult with the seller.

Make sure you are threading the machine correctly. Make sure you are using serger thread that isn't old. Make sure you are undoing all the threads when it breaks and thread it from the beginning. Make sure you have the right needles in their respective places. My Juki MO has two different size needles.

I have a Juki MO-655. I just threaded the machine,

I also have the Juki M)-655. Look at the power button; it should have 3 positions. First position turns the power switch Off, second position turns the power switch on and it will sew, third position turns on both the power switch and the sewing light. Several times I have thought I turned on the power switch to sew only to realize it was not in the second position. Hope this helps.

My machine just locked up

These machines have many lubrication points. Any place where metal to metal rubs together creates friction, and should be lubricated. But when these machines lock up, most of the time it's the feed cam that has seized. This is located on the left side where the stitch length assembly is. There is usually a large black straight slot screw right in the middle of the cam. Sometimes a plastic cap with a red arrow on it is glued to it. That just peals off. You pretty much have to replace these two pieces because what happens is that the pot alluminum swells up and then no longer turns freely in the ring any longer. A few things have to be adjusted when this is taken apart. Might be a shop job.

How do I time a Juki 5550? Never done it before,

Having the suggested hook position from the manual is very desirable. Can be easy. Loosen screws holding hook assembly in place. Position needle on upstroke and position the hook just above the eye of the needle then tighten the screws on the hook. Should be close. Call Juki and they will email a tech manual to you. Good luck.
