What juki machine will do lightweight/med weight

Things to think about are whether or not you want a walking foot machine. Then if you do, decide if you want a needle feed walking foot. (the needle moves in an ovoid fashion, to help pull the material through the feed area. Juki is a wonderful manufacturer but there are quality machines out there that are just as nice. Check out leathermachineco.com and look at their cobra 18 or cobra 17. Call Steve and talk to him about what you are looking for. (great service)

Oily bobbin

Sounds like you've over oiled your machine. Take the bobbin out, strip the thread from it. wipe it down well... and re-wind the bobbin with new thread. Next time you oil after your day of sewing. Place a piece of absorbent scrap fabric under the presser foot to catch excess drips.

Speed control

Welcome to the world of industrial machines. As you are discovering they are not like a home machine. Typically these machines have either a clutch motor or if you are lucky a servo motor. If you have a clutch motor there is typically a knob that allows you to slow it down. Or sometimes the pully needs to be replaced to "step down the speed" A digital servo motor is a bit more complicated and you'll need to find some instruction on how to use it. But they can be easier to control. I've provided a video of the servo motor I have and recommend. (I sew heavy leather) I have 1 pdf somewhere for a smart servo motor that might help. If yours is a servo, be careful because I got mine to run backwards once. lol Good luck
