I had exactly the same problem. Here is how I solved it.

I deleted all the previously installed items (although this might not actually be necessary). Then I re-installed using the 'Easy Instal' option from the CD.

The CRUCIAL part is this: - after you have tested your connection to the printer - and it is all fine - another box should appear with a MAC address for the Scan Twain. Highlight the string of numbers and click APPLY.

THEN THE MOST IMPORTANT BIT - look at page 54 in the set-up guide. And follow the instructions which are:

When the printer utility opens click ADD - then go to 'more printers' select the MP620 with the string of numbers after it. This is the one you want NOT the one that appears automatically when you complete the installation.

make this printer your default and away you go! That should work as it has for me and i have been pulling my hair out on this for about 3 weeks!

Try using acetone rather than water. Water can't dissolve the ink that may be clogging the nozzles,

The print head is either plugged or daamaged. If you print infrequently say less than a few times a week the ink actually starts to dry inside the print head. if this is mild then a few (but sometimes a few dozen) cleaning cycles will get it printing again. The cleaning cycle can be acessed bybeither the printing manager or by the printer properties through the conrrol'panel or from the all programs/start menu. On a real bad print head it can take a dozen or more cycles before you see any printing at all. once it starts usually a few more cycles will have it printing normally or printing at least. If it is real bad you basically will have two choices. One is tomreplace the printer or manually clean the print head using vinegar. The peintee is not out of ink so don't rush out and replace the ink carts. If they were empty the printer would detect the low level and not do anything. Cleaning the print head just needs a roll of paper towel and some ordinary vinegar. You just wet the towel with the vinegar and gently rub the bottom of the print head. The vinegar disolves the dried ink. So you wipe and change the tpwel until it comes clean. At this point you may need to ru one cleaning cycle but normally it will now print just as good as day one. This is the shop trick to revive ink jets. If you can do it, the worst that happens is your house smells like pickles and you just saved yourself buying a new printer.

download all the utilities in the the software that came in with your printer.

since canon printers need service tool to reset the waste ink counter, i suggest that you bring your printer to an authorized service center in your area to have them reset the waste absorber counter and clean it as well.

turn power on. when when carriage moves to center section, unplug printer. if carriage is stuck in park position, you will have to take your printer apart.

Hello. hold down the stop/reset button down on the printer for about 10 seconds untill the orange light on the printer stops flashing. this dis-able the ink level monitoring and should get you working again the button on the printer has a red triangle on it.I hope this helps, regards GM

Hi, First check the power cable of your printer or replace the cable. Check the electric outlet where you have plugged the printer. Check and make sure that the USB cable of the printer is working properly. Check the settings of the printer and make sure that the printer is not offline. If everything OK then you may have to repair the PCB.

Seems to be a problem with MP Navigator.

If you download and run the latest MP Navigator, and select Scan, you should be OK.

This is very common with this printer model especially if you experienced power outage. Unplug the unit for 20 mins then press and hold the OK button while you turn on the printer. If nothing happen then it might be the internal adapter / voltage regulator circuit has failed. But if you are so inclined to look into the power supply circuit you may find a issue with the transformer or thermal fuse nearby.
