you can download manuals for free from remotecentral.com, if your remote is not available do a goole IMAGE search becouse many remotes are rebadged for different couontries but rca should be ok.
this is what I do and it always works.

the codes for a JVC TV are: 2006, 2009, 2010, 2013, 2026, 2047, 2050, 2056, 2057, 2080, 2096, 2103

and for a JVC DVD player: 3144, 3353, 3357, 3407, 3408

Also try these simple trick to find out your remote control working or not....
Point the remote control towards the Camera of a Mobile Camera phone,with the camera on. While pressing remote, we can see a light (Infra Red) coming from its IR LED through the Mobile Camera if the Remote is working.
ifremote is working fine....lets go for programming

1. Manually turn on the TV
2. Press and hold the TV button The illuminated ON•OFF key turns on and remains on.
3. While holding the component key down, press and hold the ON•OFF key. The illuminated ON•OFF key turns off.
4. After holding down both keys for three seconds, the illuminated ON•OFF key turns back on.
5. Release both keys. The illuminated ON•OFF key remains on. TIP: Throughout the programming of each key, be sure to keep the remote pointed at the IR sensor of the component you are currently programming the remote to control.
6. Press and release the ON•OFF key repeatedly until your component turns off. Each time you press the ON•OFF key, the illuminated ON•OFF key blinks, and the next
code in the list is sent. This process continues until all of the codes in the Code Lists have been searched. If your component turns off, you have found the correct code.
TIP: Because there are so many codes, you may have to press the ON•OFF key many times-possibly up to 200 times.
7. Once you have found the correct code, you must save the new code by pressing and releasing the STOP key. The illuminated ON•OFF key turns off. You must press the STOP key to save the code or the correct code will not be stored!
8. To confirm that the component key is programmed with the correct code for maximum functionality, test the component. Attempt to control a variety of the component's functions with the remote. If some of the features of your components do not work, try programming the remote with a different code in the list until you find the code that allows the remote to control the majority of your component's functions. Different codes can provide different levels of functionality.

Refer to the device appliance owner manual to attain details of setting to capture television experience. Also, televsion network provider would usually have materails on setting the remote control. For example, refer to the cable tv, dvr oro satellite tv owners manuals to instructures on establsihing experinces.

you have only reported the model number of your remote control only. Haven't goven any details about TV. Send me model number and brand name of your TV. Then only I can assist you. Ok.

You need to turn on your television set.

On your DirecTV remote, press the "TV" button once.

Now, press and hold the "Setup" button until the "TV" light goes off.

Enter "991" on your remote control, using the numeric keypad. The "TV" light on the remote should blink twice.

Aim your remote at the television and slowly alternate between pressing "TV and "Power" on your remote, until the television set turns off. Once it turns off, press "Setup" on your remote control to lock in the code.

To search for codes for other devices and program them into your remote, repeat Steps 1 to 5, but use the appropriate key for your device instead of "TV."

Unfortunately you will not be able to switch input.
I also have a Sharp, I have tried 5 different universal remotes. None will switch input. I guess that function is not provided properly.
