"Lower presser foot" error on SE 270D
This happened to me and I eventually realized that there is a small door flap at the top near the "4" in the threading series that can get stuck open. Normally this flap goes up and down with the presser foot, but if it gets stuck open even when the presser foot is down, tapping it or closing it manually will make the error go away.
Fo4--What does it mean and where do I find the translations?
F04 is foot control error. It is probably a bad foot control, but it may be the plug in on the machine or a circuit board. You can run the machine without a foot control for now; just unplug the foot control from the machine and use the Start/Stop button like you would when embroidering. Before
replacing the foot control, you should bring the machine to a Brother
shop and try a new control. If the new one works, then the control was
the problem.
How do I back stitch
You push on the backstitch button. It's the button that looks like an upside down U. If all it does is take a few tiny stitches back then stops...you need to look at the screen...to the upper right you will see the upside down U and a scissors. make sure both of these are not selected. If one or both have a dark background...touch them and the background turns white/clear. Once they are unselected...you can backstitch at the same speed as going forward.
Buttonhole lever?
Are you saying the part you pull down came off, or the part on the foot came off? The gray part that you pull down should not have come out. This, if it did come out, will need to be reinserted by the dealer, or, if you are mechanically inclined, you can try to reattach it yourself. I've never liked my buttonhole stitcher...the durn foot is too involved for me. I do mine manually. Set the zigzag really small and close (whatever strikes your fancy)...and measure the button...do the length of the hole to correspond with the button. Look at a mans shirt...measure that button, then the hole...that will give you an idea of the size needed. When I tack at the start and end...I increase the width a bit, and set the stitch length to zero.

The needle on my sewing
when you put the needle in the needle clamp holder the flat side of the needle goes toward the back of the the machine when you tighten the needle clamp screw make sure it's holding the needle,,make sure you can't pull the needle back out of the clamp,, if you can something is wrong with the needle clamp or the screw
Bobbin winder stopped working
The winder ring has most likely broken or come off. This part is not easily installed by a home user as the machine has to the taken apart to replace it.
