Clean the contacts on BOTH the cartridge and the printer... the little gold dots... try it again.
Note that HP imbeds a serial number in each cartridge and in an effort to thwart refilling, you need to present a different cartridge to the printer and power on when you change. That is, temporarily put a a different one and turn on power to fool it into thinking it is a different one before going back to the one you intend to use...

Reset the product:

Without turning off the product, disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the product.

Remove the cartridges from the product.

Wait for the 'Insert Cartridges ' message to display on the control panel.

Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product.

Wait 60 seconds.

Reconnect the power cord. If the product does not automatically turn on, press the Power button ( ).

Reinsert the cartridges, and then close any open doors on the product.

If you receive a prompt to print a calibration page, do so.

Reconnect the USB cable to the rear of the product, and then try printing again.

You need to inspect and clean the narrow glass and the white reference bar that sits above the narrow glass. Scratches, whiteout, and debris will cause the lines on scanned documents.

I have to ask this question of you, just to make sure this is not an issue. Are you using a factory new ink cartridge?
Please consider the following:
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridge that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead.
If you are using factory new cartridges, then please call the manufacturers Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges

Have you changed the paper properties to reflect that you are using a heavier weight paper?
If not, then the printer might not be set right for the paper you are using and that can cause the problem you are seeing.
I need to align the 5510. lines are broken and
take out the cartridges from the printer and clean the contact points with a clean piece of cloth. and then unplug the power cable from the back of the printer,then press and hold down the # and 6 button from the front panel of the printer. and while pressing them down plug back the power cable back into the printer. try to power on the printer and then insert the carridges one by one into the printer.
the printer will re-align the cartridges once.
