You might try checking the capacitors and inductors wired inside. A blown cap is usually obvious, the inductor might be less so. But it shouldn't be too hard or costly to replace either. I don't have experience with this brand of speakers (or large high end speakers in general) but unless there is mechanical damage to some speaker component like the coil or cone, the electronics might be the next thing to check.

To get a replacement, Call Peavey and ask for the parts department. They normally sell things cheaper than you'd expect, and it will be the correct part.

To adjust the intonation on a guitar you need the following. .. a electronic tuner and a small philip screwdriver when you tune a string say low E you play the note open and adjust tell it's in tune then to intonate play the low E at the 12th fret producing a Harmonic, view the tuner it will be sharp or flat, turn the small philip screw on the bridge adjustment it only takes a small turn one way or the other so go slow once the string is tuned at the harmonic note check to see if it's in tune played open, keep tuning and adjusting tell the strings are in tune open and at the 12th fret on all six strings once intonation is set properly the guitar will sound better really hope that helps?

Could be a few things, most simple the Tubes, and or biasing, I have had a few amps that certain notes or chords would cause harmonic distortion within the tubes, and the tubes where good? Another possibility is the output transformer? Sometimes when they are failing the volume varies... hope this helps?

If you connect the Main 1/4" out on the front to you HiFi aux input it should work. You will need to play with the volume controls to set the proper level so as not to overload the aux buss. The XR-600B manual is here- Peavey XR 600B Operating Manual Page 4

Most of the time amplifier hum is caused by the outlet that it's plugged into, maybe no ground or there's other appliances on the same circuit causing interference? And sometimes it's as simple as a little internal feedback, certain C notes on the Guitar cause distortion with tube amps, the best fix is a $100 power conditioner like made by Monster cables or others.... hope this helps?
