Bose Lifestyle 12 System - Page 6 Questions & Answers
No power
Sounds like the internal 1.6 amp fuse has blown. Its quit easy to change, check the replies I've sent to get access to the unit and the internal fuse.
Hi guys , i don't suppose I can play my ipod
Hello
Yes you can do that, you just neet to buy or build a certain cable which goes from rca to mini jack. Plug the rca heads into the back of the amp or playback device as an input. Plug the mini jack into your ipod and set the amp on input. It should work perfectly.
Please rate this.
Best regards
Unit is on but no sound from any input source
Hi,
It sounds as if the system may have been overloaded by reversing the inputs, and likely blown an internal fuse.
The good point is that's its Bose - and aftercare is actually very good throught the country.
Unless you fancy looking inside for obvious fuses at the output stage, I would find your local distributor - which are usually repair centres as well.
Bose are very well designed - and this sort of error would have been anticipated either by an accidental short or powering a speaker too hard.
First find your local distributor in your town or area, and give them a phone. Discuss the problem and fix a price for repair. In most counts - they will give a warranty with the repair, and you can rest easy your investment is being looked after.
Do I need special speaker wires to hook up bose
It comes with special connectors - not necessarily special wire.
You will need the Lifestyle Cables.

The sound has dissapeared. It
The unit is most likely in protect or the output relay has become defective. If you do not have experience with electronics repair, don't attempt to repair this. A simple check by a shop with audio repair experience can indicate the level of the problem. If the output transistors have failedm, expect a parts cost in the $40 range.
Hope this helps,

How can I get the code for the Lifestyle 12 remote
go to the time warner remote device web site. also you can find many programming codes at sites like howard forums, scribd.com such. Also try the lifestyle web site. these codes are usually free to look up.
Subwoofer volume raises and lowers
Hiya, sounds like it could be dry joints (bad solder), loose connections or maybe the pot is dirty. I would suggest someone with experience with a soldering iron though as mistakes can produce a big bang!
If the speaker is really sounding scratchy then could be the coil, but still prefer the dry joints...
Best of luck
No surround sound
It sounds like the speaker wires are mixed up or maybe a setting on the reciever is wrong. Verify your speakers are properly connected. you test speakers using a 9 volt battery or smaller.
No sound from rear/ surround speakers on Bose V20
Yes, very easy and cheap if you get it from the right place. Fiber Optic going from the output of the device to the input of the receiver. If your lucky enough to have an input/output fiberoptic in your tv, run the fiber from the device to the tv input, fiber the output of the tv to the receiver so not only are you getting the device full surround sound, but you'll also get better TV surround sound for those that are made with Dolby pro logic II sound. (pretty much all the newer movies and shows)

Bose lifestyle 12 music center display inop
My display has not been working for years. Replaced c17 cap wich was 33uF 63 volts on lower pcb board( only one on system) . Old cap was good so this was not the problem. Replaced c16 wich was 100uF 25 volts with a 100uF 63volts. Display works, old cap read low. Both c17, and c16 are located on the lower left hand corner of the larger pcb looking from the front of the unit. Hope this helps.
Bose Lifestyle 12 version 1
Hi, The dead display is possibly down to a capacitor problem, see fixes already covered by me, it's a 33uF capacitor either on the display board or if a newer unit on the main pcb, these cost less than $1 there is only one just change it.
The no audio may be a simple fix, do you have sound from the head set socket?, if yes then look for one of my other fixes on changing a resistor near the control socket, if no then I need to have a think... If the unit has no sound or display after changing the capacitor it could be a power supply fault. Fix the display first and let me know.

Lifestyle system stopped working
I think amplifier output got shorted in this unit that why fuse blown again.
Qualified tech will look after this unit as it has complicated schematics.
