Why is my Chrysler mini van running without a key in the ignition tumbler?

This is really quite dangerous you need to take this seriously here are some help
When I turn my car off, it continues to run and will not shut off. Why?
This can be caused by a few different things. The first item to check would be the alternator. There may be a feedback to the ignition switch from the voltage regulator field exciter wire. The other scenario that we commonly see is feedback from an aftermarket ignition system that utilizes an internal relay, or both a battery and ignition source to power the system. These are fairly common problems that people experience when using many aftermarket-wiring systems. Generally, an OEM harness will not have the problem of alternator "run-on", as there is usually a resistance wire in the dash harness to keep this from happening.
Solution: To figure out where the problem exists, start the car and with the key in the ON position and the car running, turn off the key. With the ignition turned off and the car continuing to run, simply remove the plug from the alternator (DO NOT TRY AND REMOVE THE BATTERY POWER WIRE FROM THE POWER STUD!) and the car should shut off if the alternator is creating the problem. If it does not stop running, your feedback problem is coming from something other that the alternator. If you are using an aftermarket ignition unit, check to see if there is a fix available that includes a diode to put in line on the ignition feed to keep their system from back feeding into the ignition switch. If you do not have an aftermarket ignition system in your car and it continues to run after pulling the alternator plug, you'll want to call tech support from your harness manufacturer for help. If your car does shut off when you remove your alternator plug, you may have to put a diode in line on the field exciter wire to keep the alternator from back feeding to the ignition switch. Again check with the harness manufacturer for help.

these things lock themselves ,i always leave a window or a side door open when servicing these vehicles ,also a astro van as well will lock itself after a while .Doesnt happen with europeon vehicles for some reason but i still leave a window open or keys on the roof as a precaution after the chrysler turn out but do not ask about that episode

Have you you tried just re-programming all of your remotes? I just added a "new" (from Ebay) remote and when re-programming, had to do them all. Here's how... 1. Using a functional key fob transmitter, unlock the vehicle and disarm the Vehicle Theft Security System. 2. Insert ignition key into the ignition switch. 3. Turn the ignition switch to RUN position without starting engine. 4. Using a functional key fob transmitter, press and hold the UNLOCK button for a minimum four seconds (maximum ten seconds) 5. While holding UNLOCK button, and before ten seconds passes, press and release the PANIC button. A single chime will sound to verify that the RKE module is set to receive the new Vehicle Access Code(s) 6. Within 30 seconds of the chime, press and release the "LOCK" and "UNLOCK" buttons on the transmitter at the same time. Then press any one of the buttons. The BCM will sound an abbreviated chime to acknowledge that the programming of the transmitter has been completed and was successful. 7. Repeat step 6 for all transmitters that will be used with this vehicle (up to 4 total) 8. Programming mode will last for 30 seconds. To get out of programming mode sooner, turn the ignition OFF. A single chime will sound to verify that the RKE module will no longer accept additional Vehicle Access Code(s) 9. When Vehicle Access Code(s) programming is complete, turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and verify RKE system operation using each key fob

I have a van and wont start

If it is an aftermarket alarm try this. Disconnect the battery. Put the ignition to run, reconnect the battery, and it should start. After it is running, finding the valet switch. Usually a small black button on the driver side panels. Push it and the alarm should sit in valet.

WHEN I TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH OFF MY ENGINE KEEPS RUNNING

The ignition lock cylinder has to be what I guess you would call timed, if they get this it wrong then the key will do things like what is happening to you, it is an adjustment that will require they remove and reset the position of the lock cylinder.
BOTTOM LINE, TAKE IT BACK.
