2009 Harley Davidson FLHX Street Glide Logo

I have a 2009 street glite and recently when I first start riding the rear brake pedal is really hard to push down. After a couple of pushes it works fine until I turn off the bike and then ride again. Same thing. Any ideas?

SOURCE: 2008 Street Glide - Reduced heat rear cylinder shut-down feature

this is explained in the owners manual. 3 conditions have to be met in order for the Engine Idle Temperature Management System to work. 1. speed must be below 2k/hr 2. engine temp high(exactly what i forget) 3. operator must roll back throttle to negative position until "cruise on" light is green. This indicates that the EITMS is on. Vehicles are delivered from the factory with the EITMS disabled. It can be enabled or disabled by the rider using the following procedure; 1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and push the engine OFF/RUN switch on the right handlebar to the RUN position(do not start the motorcycle) 2. Push the throttle to the roll-off position and hold 3. After approximately 3 seconds the cruise indicator lamp will either flash green(EITMS enabled) or red (EIMTS disabled) 4. repeat the procedure as needed to enable or disable EITMS

SOURCE: 2007 street bob stalling at when idling

If it does it only when the tank is stating to get low, you have a hole in the fuel line, which should be covered under warranty. listen to the tank when the level is low. If it sounds like water being sprayed in the tank, then more than likely that's your problem, The problem won't generally present itself when the tank is full, because the gas helps cover the hole in the line keeping the pressure higher than when it's low on fuel.

The brakes are really hard to push.they dont stop the truck like they should and the passenger side rear is trying to lock up.

Do you feel the brake pedal go down when you hold you foot on the pedal while starting the truck ? Maybe the power booster is bad. The power brake booster is vacuum controlled in most cases an if you hold your foot on the brake pedal when starting you should feel the pedal go down if working correctly .

Brake bleeding

first gotta bleed the master..do this .. disconnect those lines going out and put the hoses for bleeding the master on..fill the chambers to almost full..push the pedal down and up s;lowly until no bubbles come up out of the hoses.dont push the pedal hard because the fluid will shoot everywhere.this takes a few minutes..and 2 people..get the willing partner to work the pedal.. its much easier that way. then work your way to the wheels doing the furthest one first.

Did complete brake job on 1997 Ford Escort wagon no abs rear shoes, drums, lines, wheel cylinders, even changed the block at the rear were the lines go in & out of. Front lines hoses pads, caliplers...

is brake pedal hard to push down without engine running ,if so proceed to step two and thats to start engine and then push on brake and if pedal softer to push then the servo is working ,now if excessive pedal travel with engine running then remove the rear drums ,make sure the outside lip is cleaned out and then adjust the brake shoes manually till they rub when you turn the drum ,this will cure it but remember that it has to bed in of course new pads brake disks ,new shoes and drums it has to bed in so give it a chance .

Pedal is hard to push. only slows jeep down.

Hello moonc40: My name is Roger and I will help. With the engine off step on the brake a couple of times. Hold your foot one the brakes and start the engine. The pedal should drop a couple of inches. If it does not then your vacuum booster is most likely the problem. With out the booster assist your brake pedal will be extremely hard to push. If you hear a hissing sound inside of the vehicle when the brake pedal is pushed? The problem is the booster.Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer this way I know it was helpful. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger
