If the key won't turn in the ignition, it could be for a couple of reasons: Often this happens when the steering is locked by the ignition lock with the front wheels turned aside (e.g. when parking on a hill) or when one of the front wheels is pushed against something (e.g. curb stone). In this case, try turning the steering wheel left and right while gently jiggling the ignition key - this might help. Another possibility is that there is a problem with the ignition lock or the key itself. This happens, the key and the lock mechanism wear over time. Try to use a spare key. If nothing works, your local dealer is the best place to call.

ALL CARS MADE (60'S UP?) DO NOT CRANK AT ALL
IF THE PRNDL (P/N, OR TRS , RS) SWITCH FAILS
SO MOM DOES NOT DRIVE OVER THE KIDS.
by law too.
even a new battery must be charged up
seems the key switch is hacked up or last owner had 25lb key ring and wrecked it easy..
battery dischareged
4 lugs on battery cables, loose or rusty lugs.
fuse blown.
PRNDL switch is bad, or wires to it cut.
ignition switch bad.
use a schematic and voltmeter to find where t fails.
easy. use a meter.
no engine told size.
seem to me key switch is bad so replace it. (no IMMO on car)
No dash lights? no warning lights? Then ignition is not being turned to ON. Check all your fuses. Recheck your replacement work. Battery cables clean and tight? Headlights work? If lights are bright, battery is good and cables are good, so key to ON should light up warning lights on dash. If not something up still with your ignition switch.
The key could be worn down to a point that it isn't fully moving the tumbler. Could be that the ignition lock has been tampered with in such a way that it will no longer respond to the key. If you have a second key that isn't used as much try it; if it works, it's your first key, if it doesn't you might need a new ignition switch.
I'm not a car mechanic, but, it sounds like you might want to check the fuse to the ignition switch, and, if that fails, it might be a problem with the Start Safety Switch on the transmission. Good luck.
the key lost synchronization with the the computer. its a common problem with these new high security systems they're very sensitive. this made the battery die, next step is to take the car to the dealer, dont try to start the car anymore. if you have any questions call Priority Automotive Locksmith 866 999 7858
groan.....gunna need a bit more info. but i'll try. What portion of the ignition was ripped out? The tumbler + switch? If so, you might need to get the car's system resent to recognize that it has a new ignition put in. Sime vehicles have a theft prevention system in place to prevent the vehicle from running if its been hot wired. Your best bet would be to replace the damaged ignition components (You did not mention if you did or not). If it still doesn't work after you have replced all of the ignition components. You can try to reset the vehicle (doesn't work on all) disconnect negative battery terminal and go back into vehicle and press down the brake pedal for about 30 seconds then reconnect battery and try it....good luck, hope this helps
