My 97 civic lx is leaking oil from the exhaust. I recently had the timing belt and distributor replaced but it continues to build up an oil mist on the rear bumper. The gas mileage has dropped significantly and as a result, the oil consumption is up. I have been reading about similar issues online and have not been able to find a decent answer. What are some possible causes of this leak?

I would pull the spark plugs and see if they have oil on them. If so, I would have to say that you have BLOW-BY. In other words the piston rings on your pistons or the cylinder walls are worn. When this happens oil can blow-by the piston rings into the combustion chamber. So as the exhaust opens up the oil is flowing through it and into your exhaust. This can be a very expense repair.

Grinding squealing noise coming from engine BUT motor has oil.

It may be a slipping belt. Spray a mist of WATER on each belt and see if the sound changes. Belt may be loose or one of the belt driven devices locking up.

Pushing coolant back into reservoir at high RPM is a sign of a leaking head gasket. It's pushing exhaust gas into the coolant. P0600 Serial Communication Link Malfunction

My toyota vienta 3VZ-FE 1996 - oil leak onto exhaust

Hi,

That engine will leak oil from

- cam cover gaskets (rear one drips on the exhaust)
- camshaft end seals
- distributor shaft o-ring (appears on top of transaxle housing)
- oil filter bracket to block o-ring seal (drips on front bank exhaust)
- crankshaft nose oil seal (have done with timing belt change)
- rear main seal (expensive, leave it be)

My distributor is out 96 Honda Civic LX. How hard

Why do you think the Distributor is out? It's not hard to replace if you have the Haynes repair manual for your vehicle and understand how to get to TDC and line up everything. But it is very rare that a Distributor goes out. If it is not turning it is more likely that your timing Belt has broken than the distributor going bad.
