My 97 crown victoria won't start. I swapped the fuel pump relay with the A/C relay and it fired up, so I bought a new relay and that seemed to solve my problem. It's been about a month and the car won't start again. I tried swapping relays again but it didn't work this time. I'm also feeling spudering hesitation during acceleration.

SOURCE: 96 Crown Victoria runs rough when first started,

Ahhhh!, if only we could turn back the hands of time. Is the vehicle sending any signals like blue smoke through the exhaust, or using a lot of oil. Possibly running on after the ignition is turned off. These are all indications of high milage wear internally. Rings, bearings, etc.etc. Low oil pressure? Blinking oil light when at intersections. Any of the above?

SOURCE: 2003 Ford Crown Victoria misfires when

I HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ON SEVERAL CROWN VICS I HAVE WORKED ON ,& SOME OF THEM A SET OF PLUGS STOPPED IT,AND SOME OF THEM HAD TO HAVE 1 OR MORE COIL PACKS REPLACED, BUT THE PROBLEM THAT I FOUND THAT IF PLUGS & ALL COIL PACKS HAD BEEN REPLACED,AND IT WAS STILL IN THE IGNITION, IS THE WIRES GOING INTO THE PLUG ON THE COILPACK UNDER THE INTAKE TUBE, IF YOU REMOVE THE INTAKE TUBE,LOOK CLOSE AT THE WIRES FOR ANY BARE SPOTS,& LOOK AT THE BOTTOM OF THE INTAKR TUBE IF YOU CAN SEE WHERE IT HAS RUBBED IT,IT IS ALMOST A GIVEN THERE IS A BARE SPOT OR CRACKED INSOLATION ON THE WIRE, ENOUGH TO CAUSE A MISFIRE, (FYI) IT TOOK ME MANY TIMES OF INSPECTING BEFORE I LOOKED CLOSE ENOUGH TO SEE THE BARE SPOTS, BUT ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS STRIP THE HARD PLASTIC AROUND THE WIRES BACK ENOUGH TILL YOU SEE GOOD CLEAN LOOKING WIRE,THEN SEPERATE THE WIRES AND IF YOU HAVE LIQUID ELECTICAL TAPE USE THAT AND THEN TAPE THEM WITH ROLL ELECTRICAL TAPE ,BUT IF YOU TAPE THEM UP GOOD SO WHEN THE WIRE IS BENT ENOUGH FOR THE INTAKE TUBE TO CLEAR ,& YOU CANNOT SEE THE WIRES GOING IN TO THE PLUG WITH A ROLL OF ELECTRICAL TAPE THAT WILL WORK TOO, I HOPE THIS TRICK WILL WORK AS GOOD FOR YOU AS HAS ME ON DOZENS OF CROWN VICS, ESPECIALLY P71 POLICE CARS.

SOURCE: Have a 97 crown vic and everytime I turn a corner

I would look under your car and look for gas stain's, it's either going to be the filler or vent hose's or the o-ring where the fuel pump goes into the gas tank.

SOURCE: lincoln ls engine swap with crown victoria

It should be doable, if the engine size is compatible to the Transmission mount. You may need to change the Engine mounts location. As far as if it is a good idea or not only you can as the owner can decide that.

97 mercury mountaineer. won't start

hi,

watch your oil pressure when cranking, you have to have some oil pressure to get the fuel system to start. you may have to find the hot wire at the relay and energize it to see if it is indeed the fuel pump going out. if its been sitting and its a 97 the fuel pump just might have went, you can also try hitting the gas tank from the outside in the middle to see if that works too. have a water hose or fire extinguisher around when your working on fuel system and leave one of your battery cable a little loose..

My 97 crown victoria died suddenly while driving down the road and won't restart

Is the fuel pump coming on? Turn the key to on position and listen by gas tank for a humming noise for fuel pump. Check the accident fuel shut off switch in the trunk, it should be on driver side in trunk, behind carpet- pad. if the button is up. Push it down to reset.

My 96 crown vic police interceptor, cranks won't start without spraying starter fluid.. the car won't start without spraying starter fluid into air intake hose to carb...

starting fluid is a thing of the past. dont use it. this car doesnt have a carb, its a throttle body/ electronic fuel injection system. you most likely have a fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator issue. test the fuel pressure, should be anywheres from 35-50 psi

Installed a fuel pump in a 1995 Crown Victoria Ford and still can't get fuel

Is there power to the pump? Have you checked the relay? Is there fuel pressure regulator working? If not, it won't provide the efficient amount of fuel pressure. Replacing the fuel filter is a good idea as well.

2000 Crown Vic cranks but won't start.

Check the fuel pump reset switch again, if it is popped back out then replace that little switch in the trunk, any ford one will do. it works off a magnet and a bearing to close the circuit for the fuel pump. easy fix.

New fuel pumpis working but there is no power getting to the pump

sounds like the ecm relay. that has to work in order for the processor to turn on the fuel pump relay.

Not fireing

The fuel pump is controlled by the ecm and only works when coils are working. So.. check the fuse of the pump, the relay of the pump then check that you have spark on the plugs.
