Sometimes after a power steering pump is installed, reduced pressure inside the hydraulic lines will build, which can create the symptoms you're experiencing. In other cases, low power steering fluid levels can cause this to occur, as can air bubbles trapped in the hydraulic lines.

have you inspected the steering rack and pinion. they do wear out and need to be replaced.

You need to replace the pump noise on the pump and hard to steer means the pump is not working anymore.

No, the bleeding instructions are standard protocol. Was your replacement pump new, rebuilt or used? Exactly what was the failure that drove you to replace the power steering pump? Did you flush the power steering system before installing the new pump? If so, did you find or recover and chunks or steel shards? Can you hear the new pump whining or working as you turn the wheel (engine running). Before replacing the pump it may be worth removing both tie rod ends and see if either side is seized. If that test passes, (With the engine off) is the steering hard? if so, the rack may be damaged. If the rack passes then you the failure should be either a stuck check valve or defective pump. There are a few other notes to consider. Make sure the belt is on and tight. Make sure the power steering fluid is full and not aerated. Both aerated fluid and unbleed air in the power steering system will result in poor steering.

If it has power steering better be looking at replacing the power steering pump. It takes more power to turn the wheels at a stop then when moving I have had that problem and it was the pump. Good luck O by the way it is not hard to replace the pump you can do it in about an hour all you need is a power steering pump pulley puller. You can rent one at any auto zone store.

do u have any power steering fluid in ur pump? This will cause it to steer hard and should also be making a high pitch whining noise. I believe u need a new power steering pump and if the hoses going to the pump are leaking, then you will need to replace them as well.

replacing a line wouldnt be to hard, neither would replacing the whole pump, which is probably what you will have to do. If you checked it and it was dry then there has, more than likely been damage done to the pump. The biggest problem with your situation isn't really difficulty of the job but more the cost of replacement parts. I can't say for sure on your vehicle but pumps can get pretty pricey for some cars. hard to steer is not the pump in most cases, it is the power steering rack and pinion steering gear.

Check to see if your leaking any power steering fluid. If theres no fluid leak from your car then the problem is the power steering pump needs to be replaced. The job is not too hard, If you need some tips to replacing the pump just write me back.

Power Steering Pump Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the accessory drive belt.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
3. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
4. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose from the power steering pump.
5. Disconnect the power steering return hose from the power steering pump.
6. Disconnect the harness connector (4) from the power steering pump (1).
7. Remove the power steering mounting bolts from the power steering pump.
8. Remove the power steering pump from the engine.
9. Remove the power steering pump pulley from the power steering pump.
10. Remove the power steering pump reservoir from the power steering pump.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the power steering pump reservoir to the power steering pump.
2. Install the power steering pump pulley to the power steering pump.
3. Position the power steering pump to the engine.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
4. Install the power steering pump mounting bolts.
Tighten the bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
5. Connect the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump.
6. Connect the power steering return hose to the power steering pump.
7. Install the harness connector (1) to the power steering pump (4).
8. Install the accessory drive belt.
9. Fill the power steering system with fluid.
10. Bleed the power steering system.
11. Operate the power steering system and inspect for power steering system leaks.
