P0446 Evaporative Emmission Control System Vent Control Circuit
Evap vent valve has only one purpose. It closes in order to seal the vent so the EVAP system can pressurize and ensure there are no leaks. Evap vent valve is usually supplied Batt. voltage with key on. The ECM's driver controls the ground, and when grounded, activates the valve (closing it). If the ECM detects a short to ground, and open,or a short to battery voltage on the control circuit, P0446 will set. Code also may refer to ECM detecting that EVAP system is unable to achieve or maintain vacuum during test.
Symptoms There will be no obvious symptoms to driver, other than MIL illumination.
Causes A code P0446 could mean one or more of the following has happened:

  • Faulty vent valve
  • Open, short or excessive resistance on Vent valve control circuit
  • Blockage of vent valve
  • Bad PCM
Possible Solutions With a P0446 OBD-II trouble code, here are some things to try:
  • Replace Vent valve
  • Repair open, short, or resistance problem in control circuit
  • Repair open, or short, or resistance problem in power circuit
  • Replace PCM

Getting error code U0414 P0118,P2060F what does that mean and what parts do I need to change for my ford escape 2008

With all these codes you need a professional to help fix this, you will likely throw parts at it and still not fix it. If you do want to try a repair at very least go on eBay and try and find a used factory repair manual set. If you google each code the explanation of the code will show, but it will only give you a system of the car, that means it can be a sensor or a part or the wiring or the computer that runs the system. Good luck

2003 Ford Escape will not start. Error code P0446 came up on the reader. Replaced starter and did not help.

That code does not have anything to do with it not starting. That code is for EVAP control leak. What is the car doing when you try and start it? Does it turn over or anything?

Ford escape location of set factory code for entry code on door

on my 2010 ford escape XLT i found the keyless entry code printed on a label on the smart junction box which is inside the center console. To get to the smart junction box follow these instructions.
1. with a non-marring tool(i used a putty knike wrapped in plastic wrap), pry up the chrome trim piece around the shifter.
2. Remove the storage tray from underneath the center console armrest and leave the armrest cover open.
3. Grab the center console finish panel near the cupholders and pull straight up.
4. Pull the finish panel up and back then set it aside.
5. The smart junction box is to the right and slightly ahead of the gear shifter. There should be a label with a bar code that says FoMoCo. In the corner of this label is a 5 digit number. This is the factory code.
Hope this helps.

My obd 2 comp is reading ignition coil a,c,d primary/secondary cercut malfunction on a 05 ford escape. do the go in order like 1=a 2=b 3=c and so forth? the problem started with on misfiring cylinder then...

Not good

With any luck, you didn't ruin the drivers
in the PCM

For the future--you never ground any ignition
coils or modules.
If you insist on testing that way,you use the
proper tools/acc's for that

You don't even hook up a volt meter with the key on.
