My check engine light is on- the reported error is p501 right wheel sensor failed smog- what part or parts do I need to correct this problem-where is the part located and guesstamate what the part might cost

CODE PO501 VECHICLE SPEED SENSOR PERFORMANCE.POSSIBLE CAUSE IS FAULTY VECHICLE SPEED SENSOR.CHECK SENSOR WIRES AND CONNECTOR FOR DISCONNECTION OR DAMAGE.

truth is this. V6 engine? 3.3L and 3.5L???????
o2 sensor circuit no activity detected bank 1 sensor 2) means the right rear 02 sensor reads dead.
right bank down stream 02 is dead.
and has zero to to with rich or lean, it is the rear sensor 2.
the rear sensors are only to this bank1 CAT for good quality.
not told at all , what engine is there. v6 sure,3.3 or 3.5L
nor how the engine runs and car drives. ?
or if this is ONLY a smog question and check engine lamp glows?
causes of 401 are
wires to right rear 02 cut burned or damaged , loose or fell off 02.
bad o2 B1,S2 rear of cat bad
bad CAT bank1,
exhaust cracks in CAT sucking air and making any 02 sensor to read dead, near it.
this post ASSUMES , no other DTC errors stored or live running,
assumes scanned LTFT PID reads correctly and no B1S1 02 errors.(front sensor)
bank 1 or B1 is right front engine bank. (drivers view)
facing engine is left bank. (workers viewed)
ASSSMEs car is driven plenty not just parked in an old barn.

that Toyota has a 2.4 l 2az-fe 14of 155 hp and ran from 2001-2007 after which a v6 engine was installed
the sensor is the one before the cat converter as it is a heated oxygen sensor (KO2S) and reports on the gas composition to the ECM for air/fuel ratio adjustments
the oxygen sensor (O2) is after the cat converter and reports on the cat operation
have the cat converter checked at an accredited muffler shop
USA smog fail, Canada/ UK whose? we dont know???

that is correct, if the CEL glows running the smog tests is born DEAD.
HOPELESS case. that, so scan it, and post the DTCs.
we wait. now for ever just to get the DTC, post it for helpl.

some cars glow the OD lamp or the Drive light, to show errors.

id know its USA smog fail. and CEL glowing.....all the time...
and open the the hood, and see what engine is there, UN-SAID.
and scan it and see the codes, and drive it and see the tranny (if A/T) mess up.

There is probably no need to contact the BAR though you always have the right reserved. Trouble Code P1774 indicates your Mini's rear wheel speed sensor lost its signal, and trouble code P1775 indicates the right rear wheel speed sensor lost its signal as well. Both more than likely triggered during the dynamometer portion of the smog check inspection; while the front wheels are turning and the rear wheels are stationary. During this time, as far as the ABS system knows, the rear wheel sensors have lost their signals. After a computer reset and driving your Mini Cooper for a few miles everything should return to normal, as apparently they have; and you've passed the smog check. Should the check engine light return in the near future for the same trouble codes P1774 and P1775 we'd recommend inspecting the rear wheel speed sensors for possible debris build-up. Since these trouble codes where triggered during the smog check and smog check machine failure we can assume the trouble codes were temporary and not related to any physical problem with your Mini Cooper.
No this is not right. If you remove the battery everything resets anyways. If they are talking about relearn procedure, it should only require 50 miles. But if the light is on than either they did something wrong, created another problem, or there was already another one existing. Have the code read and let me know what it is. I'm in Ca too and used to prep european cars for smog, so I do know what I'm looking for. How did the rest do? What were the readings(if possible)?
We need a lot more information. What does the report say failed the test? Is there a check engine/service engine soon light on? If so, what is the trouble code?
you need to add the codes on the vir or if the check engine light is on what codes do you have?
and always inlcude the engine size for your car
many people does question here but most of they are not ading the right information like what kind of engine and like that is hard to help
