First off, set the parking brake, raise vehicle so you can get under it. Remove the shift linkage from the transmission and manually move the shift lever to park. Then try moving the shift mechanism inside the car to park and then through each gear (engine off of course). See if the mechanism sticks, if so, probably a broken tab on the locking mechanism for the shift lever in the steering column. If it moves freely, try the lever on the transmission back and forth through the gear range to see if it sticks. If it sticks, or you can't initially move it by hand, you have a transmission problem that requires trained individuals to fix. If it moves freely also, try lubing the cable with silicone spray at all contact points, especially where it enters and exits any cable sheathing. (spray into sheathing well) If both move freely independent of each other, it may just have been in a bind, put both shifter and tranny lever in park and reattach the shift cable, Then try the gear range again from inside the vehicle.
try to change you car battery and then shift to park and try to start the engine if that didint help contact me on [email protected] i will help you to get it back agian
you can shift it at transmission by hand to neutral or park and have someone inside start the car and you manually put in gear under hood and drive it to shop or garage, wherever
With an assistant check to see if the shifting cables are moving the arms on the transaxel, if not then it may be a broken cable. The most likley is there is something broken in the drive line, [ clutch, input shaft to Trans, final drive gear[s] in Trans, Axel shaft, etc.] First look to see if the the axels are bad. Then you can check the final drive by jacking up one front wheel [ making sure the other is firmly on the ground ] and try to rotate the lifted one, it shouldn't spin. You can see if the clutch or the input shaft is bad by putting the car in gear and seeing if you can push the car with out the engine rotating. Any of the problems will be costly to repair, axel and cable the least.
From you're description it sounds like a shift cable failed or got
disconnected or there may be a problem in the shift control housing on the transmission. Have somone move the shifter around while you watch the shift control housing below the battery tray to see if the cable is connected and moving if it's
connected but little or no movement, remove the shift boot and
and check that end of the cable linkage. Hope this helps.
IF IT STUCK IN PARK.CHECK BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH FUSE AND THE BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK SOLENOID FUSE.AND PARK NEUTRAL SAFETY BACK UP SWITCH FUSE.IF ANY OF THESE 3.IF FUSE IS BLOWN OR ANY IS FAULTY.YOU WONT BE ABLE TO MOVE CAR OUT OF GEAR.ANOTHER THING MAKE SURE YOUR BATTERY HAS 12.5 VOLTS.
