What you speak of is called a hiem joint. There has to be a sleeve or ring still on the trans rod the holds the ball in the socket. Look on the shift rod and see is it still there. If yes, pop the ball back in the socket and the ring back in on the ball, Find out what holds the ring in against the ball and fix that.

have you checked the cylinder compressions as backfire and blue smoke can be a symptom of low compression , either rings or valve seats but would need a dropdown test to be sure

No, timing is not like that any more. Timing lights are almost obsolite. Your computer takes care of all of that now. Disconnect your battery for a few minutes and connect it again, this will reset your engine timing

I have this on my car right now it maybe the door frame where the bolt is bolted to that bolt and the 2 nuts on the door jam need to be removed to get that part out and the kick panle will have to remove to get part out of car

do you have a scrap yard near you that will let you pick your own parts if so go to them and tell them what you are after and ask if you can pull you own part that will give you the now how on what plug gose where and how to unplug and remove the part you need

corrosion on you battery terminal will create high resistance.inspect the battery connectors and wire. if you find white/blue crystals on you terminal disconnect and clean. the battery cable must be gold/light brown.If the wire are black/blue that mean is burn from bad(lose) connection to the terminal and need replacement.Inspect all ground connection betvin battery and body for corrosion or lose

There should be a cable that goes from the key lock to the shifter. That cable may be broken. There should also be a lock solenoid that requires you to push on the brake pedal to get the shifter out of park.You would need to disassemble the console to get access to the shifter and then inspect these components.

You don't have oil in the water or water in the oil and I am assuming you aren't loosing water on a daily basis so no blown head gasket, we hope.

Check to see if your catalit converter is pluged up

check the wires. check the connector. Make sure the bulb is the correct one. Use a test light or voltmeter VDC 12 volt to test the circuit. Good luck.
