Need to remove ignition lock.

There are several procedures in the manual--I think for different models. I think I picked the one for S-series, but let me know if this doesn't look right.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disable the SIR system.
  3. Remove the steering column trim covers.
  4. Turn the ignition lock cylinder to the RUN position.
NOTE There are two retainers on the ignition lock cylinder. Depress both retainers to remove the lock cylinder from the housing.

Fig. Depress the first retainer through the lock housing access hole (2) and depress the second retainer through the lock housing access hole (1)

  5. Depress the first retainer through the lock housing access hole with a small allen wrench or similar pick-type tool. The lock cylinder will back out slightly.
  6. Depress the second retainer through the lock housing access hole. The lock cylinder will back out slightly again.
  7. Pull the lock cylinder out enough to locate the second retainer to the lock housing access hole.
  8. Depress the retainer though the access hole a second time. The ignition cylinder should release from the housing. If not, the ignition cylinder may need to be moved in and out several times to locate the retainer correctly in the hole.
  9. Remove the lock cylinder from the lock housing.

To install:
  1. Position the lock cylinder in the run position. Insert the cylinder into the lock housing.
  2. Rotate the lock cylinder in the housing. Verify proper rotation.
  3. Install the steering column trim covers.
  4. Enable the SIR system.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.

Car will start but stalls imediately after & wont stay running

You can have one of several issues that can't be determined without a fault code reader to narrow it down. Typically, it sounds like you have a fuel supply related issue, but it could easily be something else like an unplugged vaccuum line, or faulty EGR. It is best you buy an inexpensive fault code reader and a Haynes Manual for your car... look up the codes in the chapter on Emission Controls and get back with us for assistance. A vacuum line diagram is located under the hood, go over every lie carefully and look for cracks and leaks, check the air filter box and any larger hoses carefully for cracks. You can do this easily, be patient and do a thorough job of it. Pull out a single spark plug and look at it for excessive carbon deposits. Replace with DENSO Iridium plugs that last 60K miles. Look at you spark plug wires... you will need an inexpensive multimeter to check them; Radioshack has them for cheap.

Check to see whats wrong with 01 saturn sc 3d wont start

If it won't even ''crank'', then it is probably a bad ignition switch. If it does ''crank'', then there are too many possibilities for internet diagnosis. (But if _no crank_ after starter and battery replacement, it's a good bet that it's a bad ignition switch).

I have a 2001 Saturn sc2. I left my lights on over

How old is the battery? If over 3 years it may take a prolonged amount of time to recover from a complete drain. There's a chance that the battery will never charge again too.

Why are dashboard lights flickering on saturn 2001

Your Body Control Module is failing. Your unit is behind the glove box up toward the top. Replacing this BCM is easy, but you'll need the dealership to adapter the unit with your car.
