I
drive a GMC Safari, the other day, I went out to start it, the engine turned,
but the car wouldn't start, came back the next morning, the car started with no
problems.
The car worked fine for a day. The day after, suddenly it didn't start
& when it did start it backfired, if I let it stand for a while, it will
start with no problems, I just don't get it, what can the problem be?
HAD SIMILAR PROBLEM. DID NOT START.AFTER TURNING IT OVER TWENTY TIMES IT STARTED AND RAN GREAT. AFTER LEAVING IT SIT FOR A FEW HOURS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. AFTER CHANGING WIRES, PLUGS, DISTRIBUTER CAP, ROTTER,COIL,AND A FEW OTHER THINGS.STILL HAD THE PROBLEM. FINALLY I CHANGED THE $15.00 fuel filter and it runs perfect.
I think it's the fuel pump or the fuel pump filter.
Check the fuel system that's where your problem is, my bet is your fuel pump has left this world to a better place.

My safari will not start after it rains or if it is very humid. The only comman thing is that it is moist outside. I can park the vehicle in my drive on a bright sunny day, and have not hit a puddle or any other wet area at all, but if it rains that evening or is humid or a high dew point by next morning the van will not fire. It cranks over fine but will not lite. I have had three shops, including the local gm dealer work on it and at this point have replaced the cap, rotor, wires, plugs, crankshaft sensor. The van will always start after cranking it over for at least an hour or longer. I run the battery dead several times while on a boost.I can get it to kick after a while and then it will start. After it starts it runs as if nothing was wrong and will start and run the rest of day. If the weather stays dry it starts perfect. It always appears to be flooded when it does start, but i am sure that is from cranking it and cycling the fuel injection for so many times. The engine is a 4.3 vortec v6. HELP!.
