The car does not accelerate well. I had the car tuned up - still same problem. In my garagetoday while car was in Park, I pressed the pedal and held it steady - the RPMs dropped, then climbed back up, then fell off again, all while I held the pedal steady. Any thoughts?

Hi, I recommend you check the fuel pressure regulator for a torn diaphram. The vacuum reduces fuel pressure when the engine is not in high fuel demand. However, since the intake manifold is the source of vacuum for these type regulators, when the diaphram tears, it allows fuel to be sucked through the regulator directly into the intake manifold, thus causing a rich fuel/air ratio. To check a regulator on the rail, pull the vacuum hose off the regulator and plug the hose with a golf tee. Start the engine and watch for fuel to come out of the regulator vacuum port. If fuel comes out, replace the regulator. A diagram showing your regulator is pasted in below. If this is not the problem, please get back to me.

High revs in park and neutral

What is the car? This sounds like it could be a throttle position sensor, (TPS). This monitors how hard you are pressing the gas pedal and if it is faulty it won't be reading the pedal movement correctly. Other symptoms are uneven idle and the acceleration isn't smooth or even.

When I start my car I can not change gears out of park Chysler Sebring 2007 , today

These newer cars have a safety as part of the brake pedal system. Check along the brake pedal to see if the switch is misaligned or disconnected. This is to prevent someone from pressing the accelerator while taking the vehicle out park and causing an accident. Good luck

Brakes mushy replaiced pads fluid level good when in park press brake pedal accelerates help?

Check for adjustment of brakes, and bleed them... Excessive travel of brake pedal uses vacuum, and that can account for engine speed up.

Why wont my 2008 dodge avenger shift from park?

I assume you are pressing firmly on the brake pedal. If so, it is most likely the brake safety switch, not detecting that you are.
Contact your dealer about the override for this, (usually there is a button somewhere), if that fixes it, you need to get it replaced.
All new cars require that you press the brake to be able to shift out of park; this prevents the so-called "sudden acceleration" problem, when you put your foot on the accelerator instead of the brake, shift into drive, and then no matter how hard you press on the accelerator (which you *think* is the brake), the car will not stop, in fact it "races out of control".

But occasionally this switch goes bad and has to be replaced.
