After 2002 Altima offers two types of engine: the new 4 cylinder 2.5 L QR model engine which is fairly powerful (175 horsepower) and, I believe, one of the best engine in its class the 3.5L V6 VQ model engine with 240 horsepower. The same V6 model as in in the Nissan Maxima, Pathfinder and Murano.
Both engines feature continuously variable valve timing using a silent chain instead of timing belt. Throttle cable is gone - the throttle operates electronically by wire based on gas pedal sensor readings. This design provides smoother transmission shifting and lower emission.
The 2007 Nissan Altima 3.5L Sedan, has a Timing Chain, and an Ignition Coil Pack. NO DISTRIBUTOR.

SOURCE: WHEN TO CHANGE TIMING BELT OR CHAIN AVALANCHE 2007

This has multiple chains and they never need changing. At 70,000 miles you should of had ALL fluids changed at least once

SOURCE: 02 altima 3.5l-timing chain-tuogh job?what should

I would not do this job myself if I were you unless you are very good at following directions and you have done things like this in the past. . A v6 nissan engine is very difficult to time properly. I you are even one tooth off you can bend a valve or ruin the ignition system. If you are going to do it yourself make sure you have all guides and all inserts on before setting timing.

SOURCE: does a 1999 nissan altima gxe have a timing belt

I think it has a chain. look where the timing chain/ belt should be. if there is a large plastic cover, it has a belt, it its a aluminum cover, it has a chain. there is no replacement interval on a chain.

When should i change my timing chain in 2007 Nissan Altima

Get car'scomputer scanned. It should diagnose the condition of your chain and they can tell you if ti's time to change it or you may leave it for some time

As a general rule, if it is making some weir noises, it's time to change it.

How do i change the timing belt on a nissan altima 2001

A Nissan ultima does not have a timing belt,it has a timing chain, look up in your manual for your maintenance schedules when and at what mileage you are needed to change the chain, usually the chain is changed when it is loose through stretching in wear over mileage,a very loose chain has a rattling noise in the engine compartment by the cam gears, good luck ,hope that I was helpful.

DOES A 2002 NISSAN ALTIMA HAS A TIMING BELT

No timing belt. your Altima has a timing chain. No service necessary unless the chain is stretched out. I have seen just a hand full of those since they came out, so you should be safe. You will get the check engine light to come on with the p0335 cam position sensor to come on in few cases that I have seen and it was a stretch chain. other than that no real issues with timing chains.

Timing belt replacement millage

The Nissan Altima does not use a timing belt, it uses a chain driven camshaft, timing chains have no set mileage and should last the life of the engine.

00 SE Altima, Is it the timing chain or the motor or both??

If the engine spins over very fast like it is not under any kind of pressure then the timing chain/belt has failed. There is a considerable amount of damage that can accrue when this happens. You may not be able to replace the chain/belt and repair the problem now. It may actually be cheaper to replace the motor now than repair the old one. So they may both be correct. Hope this helps. Good luck.
