I unplugged both speed sensors(input and Output), the solenoid pack, took out the EATX fuse and relay under the hood and took out the transmission control fuse on the inside of the car to try and get the check engine light on and "force" the TCM to give me a code. I didn't get one. Does this mean that the TCM is bad?

SOURCE: can you tell or show me where the ground strap is

the ground strap is bolted to the transmission housing next to the starter bolt.the transmission not shifting may be caused by the computer and may need to be reprogrammed for the new transmission.

SOURCE: what is an EATX shutdown relay

There is an (auto shut down relay) located on the van in the fuse/relay panel under the hood. It controls the fire to the coil, fuel injectors alternator. (never ever heard of a (eatx relay)??? Or a (eatx backup relay)??? Hope this will help you.

In a Jeep, OBDII code P0700 indicates that the EATX (Transmission controller) has an active fault and has illuminated the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp aka Check Engine light) via a BUS message. The specific fault must be acquired from the EATX via a DRBIII tool. So until you hook it up to a DRBIII scan tool, you really know what is wrong with your transmission. Input or Output Speed Sensor failures often cause this P0700 code and are a common failure part on Jeep Grand Cherokees. So take it to a dealer you trust or ask around for a transmission shop you could trust - they will have the DRBIII scan tool and you will pay them (in most cases) an hour's labor costs ($60-$100) to tell you what the internal codes are and what it MIGHT take to fix it. Or (this is what I would do), you can try replacing both Input and Output speed sensors yourself and see if that cures it. You will likely spend about $80-$100 on those 2 parts. The dealership will charge you about $180-$250 for those 2 parts plus another hour of labor to put them in. Good luck.

Can I replace the transmission solonoid on a 98 Town and Country Van without resetting the computer?

It depends. Are there codes in the computer now? Has it bee reset since you replaced the input speed sensor? If the codes are still in there, the transmission may still be in limp-in mode.

Your transmission is computer controlled. Trying to diagnose or repair it without the ability to interface with the computer that controls it about the same as surfing the internet with no monitor. If you push the right buttons and click your mouse just right, you might get to the page you are looking for (not likely, but possible). However, when you do get there, you still won't know it....

Sounds like a starter issue or the starter relay. The ETAX fuse is power to the transmission solenoids and Transmission computer.

Wont change gears after second or from limp gear 92 caravan 3.3 maybe speed sensor? if so where that located on tranny?

The input speed sensor is located just above the solenoid pack (with black cover and multiwire connector) on the transaxle and faces toward front of van. The output speed sensor is to the right of the input sensor about 6" or so. When the hood is open and you look straight down you'll see the solenoid pack. While a sensor could certainly cause the transaxle concern, an internal problem, electrical wiring, controller etc. can produce the same result. If the battery has ever had excessive corrosion/acid builud, it can leak down onto the harness located directly under the battery tray and this has been known to be a problem.

93 plymouth voyager transmission

Which sensor? The solenoid pack is located on the front, under a black rubber cover, right under where the cooler lines go it. But this is only on the 4 speed Trans. If you have a three speed trans, there is no solenoid pack on the outside. Also the 3 speed does not have an input shaft or output shaft speed sensor, only a vehicle speed sensor.

2002 neon speedometer jumping and won't up-shift

May be the connection at the output speed sensor, it supplies vehicle speed signal to Trans module. Same signal used for speedo. Have seen wires break right at the sensor. U may also want to check those codes especially in the TCM. See if it gives u an output speed sensor code or gear ratio code. If either of these are present, it's probably in the output not input sensor circuit. With a wiring diagram, u could ohm the wires to the TCM and wiggle wires and connector to check for an open.

If you were to take the solenoid pack apart you would find a bad connection on that solenoid. You sill need a new pack installed.
