Code p1400 on my nissan altima check engine light

P1400 NISSAN - EGRC Solenoid Valve
Possible causes- The EGRC-solenoid valve harness is open or shorted
- The EGRC-solenoid valve electrical circuit poor connection
- Faulty The EGRC-solenoid valve

On most Nissan models in the early 1990s you used the gas pedal to make the check engine light flash.
If you research the internet for the procedure you should be able to check it yourself. Once you have the code or codes you can look them up online too. The info is listed in some of the Nissan car discussion websites.

EVAP codes ,gas cap ok?Vacuum leak? Charcoal canister unplugged?

Get codes read @ autozone or simular parts place to get a direction of what your problem might be.

Go to Autozone or similar business for a free scan of the computer. The scanner can turn the light off if no other codes (problems) are revealed. Good luck!

Check the SPARK plug condition, and AIR gap.

P0400 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Malfunction

These codes represent a fault in the Auxiliary Emission Controls. Here's a brief describing of the EGR valve. The EGR stands for exhaust gas recycling valve. During cruising speeds, the valve opens allowing exhaust into the intake manifold. The purpose of this is to cool the temperature of the combustion inside the cylinder as the spark plug fires. This in turn, lowers emissions. If the EGR is stuck in either direction(open/closed), it can effect the idle of your vehicle and can stall it out at times. it can also trip the engine light as well. Good rule of thumb is to clean out the carbon out of the intake manifold thoroughly before you install a new EGR. this will prevent the engine light form coming on once more. if the carbon build up is high, chunks of it will jam the EGR, causing it to fail over and over.

That code is not in my book, it is a dealer specific code. Go to Auto Zone or Advanced Auto, and they will have a book that has "dealer" codes in it.

gadiame: The code P1400 is for the EGR valve and Evap canister purge control solenoid valve circuit.
An improper voltage signal is being sent to the ECM through the solenoid valve.
As far as whether the engine using a timing belt or gear? You mean chain? This engine uses a timing chain.
