Cant remove the alternator - 2000 Chevrolet Venture

Cut the bolt and fit new bolt the other way round

it does come out the bottom, remove the tire, and inner fender splash shield, and it will come out through there.

Hi:

To remove the belt, you must loosen the belt tensioner pretty far.
It is located up near the front of the engine, not far from the air conditioning compressor. It has a 10mm bolt that must be loosened, and that will allow the belt to be removed. After the Alternator is replaced, tighten the belt back up, and start the car , shut it back down and adjust the belt as needed.

TAKE OUT ALTERNATOR MOUNTING BOLTS.REMOVE ALTERNATOR YOU PROBABLY HAVE TO REMOVE OIL LOWER OIL DIP STICK TUBE TO GET ALTERNATOR OUT.

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable, then disengage the alternator drive belt from the alternator pulley.
2. Raise and support the vehicle, then remove the righthand wheel and tire.
3. Remove the righthand outer tie rod end from righthand spindle.
4. Remove exhaust system Y pipe as follows:

1. Remove the front and rear Y pipe flange fasteners from the exhaust manifolds.
2. Remove the stud bolt and nut retainer from the oil pan, then remove the two remaining nuts and bolts from U pipe outlet connection.
3. Discard the exhaust converter inlet gasket, then remove the Y pipe.

1. Disconnect wire harness attachments to integral alternator/voltage regulator, then remove the alternator brace bolts from the alternator.
2. Remove the righthand halfshaft.
3. Remove the alternator bolts from bracket, then rotate the alternator and remove it through the righthand side of the vehicle.
4. Remove the bracket bolts and bracket from the cylinder block.
5. Reverse the procedure to install, noting the following:

1. Torque the alternator bracket bolts to 15-22 ft lb.
2. Torque the alternator bolts to 29-40 ft lb.
3. Torque the alternator brace bolts to 15-22 ft lb.
4. Torque the output terminal nut to 6.7-8.1 ft lb.

some porsches adjust belt tension by adding or removing shims between the two pulley halfs.take the nut off the pulley insert the belt put thebelt,outer pulley and nut back on.

You do not have to remove the wheel unless you have th 6 cylinder engine (2.3l). Then yes you do:

Disconnect Negative Battery Cable
Remove the air cleaner and hose from between the air breather/cleaner and throttle housing
Relax the belt tensioner off the belt and pry off the belt
Remove the right front wheel, black belt cover/protector, and the wheel hub nut and slide the hub off the drive shaft/outer Cv joint
Disconnect the alternator, remove the alternator/air intake hose, 2 bolts that hold the alternator in and remove it through right-hand wheel housing.

yes it is in the back left rear if facing alt it is a 10mm.or 13mm. bolt it is not easy to get to
