A flashing light means you're actively misfiring. Have the ECU scanned to find out which cylinder it is. Bad coil packs are common and there is a recall for them. Call a dealer with your VIN number and if yours qualifies, you'll get four new ones free. If not, buy a coil pack for each cylinder that is indicated as misfiring and replace them. They're $35 at AutoZone and about $160 at an Audi dealer.

You can also swap coils from the effected cylinder with another and see if the misfires moves with the coil. That indicates a bad coil.

Ditto: swap spark plugs; if misfires move with the spark plug, get a set of new plugs and gap properly.

Coil packs 'fade' and get weaker. If misfires are caused by the coil pack (see above), you may get by for a while with reducing the spark plug gap.

I have a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am and for the past 3 months it revs high when being started then down also for 2 weeks the Trac off light comes on car tries to die but when more fuel is given it picks up

You may have an idle air control motor issue ( IAC).This motor controls the idle on start up as well as normal driving conditions. Is the check engine light on. If it is it may give a hint as to what the problem is.The traction control light has no control as far as the idle is concerned,. It is controlled by the ABS system. Usually the ABS light will come on if there is a traction control issue.

Check engine light is staying on again , i drive about four miles , see the temperture hand rise and fall when the thermastat opens (replaced bad thermostat 3 weeks ago) ck eng light starts flashing @39...

Hello, If this is a Turbocharged or boosted engine, the Code 39 means there is a problem with the Bypass Valve control. It would also explain the heat retention in the motor.

You can get a FREE scan at Autozone, Advance , or Oreilys autoparts to verify the results of the "Check light". If you miscounted, the scan will still help and give a diagnosis.

I hope my solution is very helpful to you.

I have a 2006 trailblazer engine light on when started runs for about 3 sec. then cuts off.

First of all, what cuts out, the "check engine" light, or the engine itself? If its the ck eng light it sounds like an intermittin problem that in most cases cannot be resolved with a code scanner. Have you disconnected the battery to reset that light? If not, then do so (usually the ground cable) for about 10 min., then re-connect the cable and your ck eng. light will be off. ck eng. lights generally have to be constantly on in order to pull codes from the PCM. If there is a problem then the light will come back on.

Truck starts to vibrate, spits/sputters, engine light flashes. After a few seconds of this it clears up. Seems to do it on cold days after sitting for long periods. Had a sensor chip replaced 6 months ago...

I dont know what a "sensor chip" is, but take it to tthe dealer, and tell them the ck eng light is flashing and let them check it out. If its out of warranty, find a qualified repair shop to check it out. A flashing CK ENG LIGHT IS BAD. and needs repair ASAP.

1993 buick century-high idle and skipping ck eng light when cold

Since it is free, having the computer scanned by one of the chain auto parts stores would still be an easy thing to do. If you have one in your area, call them about a free scan for your car.

1994 mazda protege 1.8 l auto trans won't start

It could be a faulty Engine Coolant Temperature sensor. It sounds like when it is cold, your computer is interpreting your signal from the ECT (or lack therof) as being at a certain temperature and not providing the right amount of fuel in order to start the engine when it is cold. Does the check engine light blink or flash at all?
