I have an 03 Chrysler Sebring and at 3000 RPM the engine cuts out. THe oil was changed the other day, and now the check engine light is on and the oil lamp flickers at idle.
113,000 and it does not stop, but it will not progress through the 3000 RPM mark, almost like it's a rev limiter. It's exactly at 3000 RPM.113,000 and it does not stop, but it will not progress through the 3000 RPM mark, almost like it's a rev limiter. It's exactly at 3000 RPM.

I had a check engine light and it came up with a cam position sensor and coolant temp switch, so I had it reset. Coolant was low and the oil level was a little high, but it's fine now. It seemed like a fuel flow issue, but could have very well been electrical with the cam sensor. I'll let you know if it comes back.
Thanks,

Most auto stores (Autozone) will use a scantool to tell you what the problem is & clear off the check engine light. It is a free service, but I'd suggest bringing a pen/paper to write down the error code & Google it afterwards. It's definitely handy for getting rid of the check engine light.
It may be the oil pump. If the gauge is going up when the rpms increase it's probably not the gauge or pressure switch. If the computer senses the oil pressure is low it will shut the vehicle off to try to save it's self from catastrophic failure. Also it may start cranking longer before starting. Thats it building oil pressure before the computer will let it start. Make sure oil is full, clean & thick.
Do you have a check engine light on ? Common problem with Chrysler is the crank sensor, won way to check is with a scanner, connect to dlc, and goin to live data stream and watch your rpm if you have no signal while cranking that's your problem, another possible cause could be your anti theft system , is your security light blinking ,staying on or not coming on at all?
There is a new PCM flash for this condition, the Technical service bulletin reference # is 18-026-03. The update will need to be done by a dealer. I would recommend this before replacing any parts.
run the fault codes to find the reported fault
engine lights report on engines and transmissions
could be actuator or vacuum to actuator, dirty transmission oil or pump pressure problems
2.7 ? This motor has oil problems if not changed every 3000 miles. Put a chrysler filter on it and the correct weight of oil, never use a fram oil filter.
