Owner Manual/Repair Manual with diagrams for 1999 F350 4x4 Diesel

I bought a 1999 Ford F350 4x4 Diesel with 150,000 actual miles on it. Needless to say, having a FEW problems with it. Since it is my only transportation, it would GREATLy help to have access to an ON-LINE Owner manual and/or Repair manual for this truck. Since this truck is COSTING me tremendously, the FREE on-line manual sure would make my day. I am looking for electrical fuse/relay diagrams right now.

Check out faxonautoliterature. They list an original Ford wiring diagram manual for your truck for $59. They also have a couple of different Ford service manuals for your engine, diagnostics and repair. If your wiring and relay problems are engine specific then a copy of Haynes Diesel Engine Repair Manual, part # 10330, will be right up your ally. For $20 it provides an excellent trouble shooting and repair manual for the DIY diesel owner. It has separate sectons for the 6.9 and 7.3 engines as well as GM. I know this isn't free but I hope it will help.

Just bought a 92 ford explorer. it has 150,000 miles. what oil should i use?

10w30 was recommended when new

being that you have 150,000 you should consider something like Valvoline max-life which is a semi-synthetic

I am considering buying a 96 Explorer xlt. It has 160k miles on it. What's the average miles?

Hi,

I've had Fords for 20 years, and have done a lot of work on most of them, having bought them used mostly. I currently have a 94 Ford Thunderbird with 150,000 miles on it, and the transmission was replaced at about 70,000. Although I have not had an explorer (but I did have a bronco), my boss had this exact year. He also had to change out his tranny before 80,000 miles. Other problems ford trucks tend to have are oil leaks in bad places (flywheel, head gasket, etc...). I say bad, because these areas are very expensive to fix. my T-bird just lost it's heater core, and to replace it costs about $700.00

All that being said, if you get it for a reasonable price, and are ok with putting money into it because, say, it's a really clean one, then you might want to buy it. It's really up to your own discretion, because when a car gets to be over 10 years old with over 100,000 miles, anything can happen. Last thing: it is entfirely possible to drive this car for another 100,000 miles, provided the previous owner(s) maintained it very well and didn't take it off road at all. I got 200,000 miles out of my bronco's original motor. The previous owner didn't take it off road - but I did! ; ) Take care.

Glow plugs

glow plug wire harness under valve covers often deteriorates causing no glow plug heating. The connectors and wire terminals are available from Ford as a kit or individually. Do not replace the harness. $600!
Still need the fuse panel circuit? Look in owner manual.
glow plugs use a relay too.
