2004 Aleros with auto trans DO NOT have a dipstick under the hood. They do have a filler cap, located on the driver side, look straight down under the edge of the exhaust crossover, black cap with a gear on it. According to the Manuf. the AUTOMATIC Transmission (should not need to be checked unless there is a leak) has a plug in the side just like the manual transmission. You remove the plug in the side and fill thru the top until fluid runs out the side hole. Replace the plug and the fill cap when done.

2004 olds alero transmission fluid how much to fill up

fill it to just above the low level , check it while it is running, (in park) ;-) on a level surface. drive it around the block to warm up the trans, check it again, if it is still low then add some to the full line, check again while running. (don't add fluid when running) it should stay at the full mark at this point.

How do you check the transmission fluid level on the 2004 Alere?

There is a plug in the transmission case by the passenger cv shaft. With the engine running, remove the plug with a 7/16 socket. If fluid runs from the hole it's full. If it doesn't, fill the trans thru the fill cap near the air filter until it runs from the hole. Then replace the plug.

How do you check the transmission fluid on the alero ? i can not find a dip stick

TRANSMISSION DONT HAVE A DIP STICK.IT HAS A RED FILLER CAP INSTEAD.TO CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID THE CAR HAS TO PUT ON A LIFT LEVEL.TRANSMISSION HAS A CHECK PLUG.ITS UNDER THE EXTENSION HOUSING.THE OIL PAN DRAIN PLUG IS BELOW IT.YOU NEED A DRAIN PAN AND THE CAR NEED TO BE RUNNING AT OPERATING TEMPERATURE.WITH ENGINE RUNNING YOU REMOVE THE CHECK PLUG.IF NO FLUID DIPS OUT YOU NEED TO ADD SOME FLUID.IT FLUID POURS OUT YOU HAVE TOO MUCH TRANSMISSION FLUID IN SYSTEM.IF YOU GET A SLOW DRIP YOU HAVE THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF FLUID IN TRANSMISSION.THE CAR HAS TO BE LEVEL AND YOU PUT FLUID IN THE TOP OF TRANSMISSION WHERE THE RED VENT FILL CAP IS.YOU NEED A LONG LONG FUNNEL TO PUT FLUID IN WITH OUT SPILLING FLUID ALL OVER THE PLACE.

Engine makes a loud noise when you accelerate

sorry tac22,you don't. there is no dip stick .apparently, they don't want (or need)us bothering with that! i asked my dealer the same question and he said i didn't need to worry about the trans fluid. if you have transmission problems then have a "qualified technician"service it,but apparently,it is "maintainance-free". hope that helps!
