Is this front or rear. If this is the rear you have to screw the piston back right side clockwise and left anticlock D

With the new pads in place, loosen the bleeder valve a few turns while applying pressure to the pads. A small amount of brake fluid will likely spray out as the pads and pistons move, so have a pan or a rag ready. Once the pads are flush with the edges of the caliper, retighten the valve - making sure that the pads don't move.

I need to replace brake pads on my car, can you tell me the steps I need to take so it is not difficult for me on my part

Get a repair manual for your car. Libraries also have an extensive car repair section. Disc brake pads are pretty easy to replace, if you have proper tools (You'll also need a large c-clamp, like 4 or 6 inches to push the piston back into the caliper bore.Use jack stands and pull wheel off. remove caliper(usually two bolts) pull old pads off(may be some retaining clips or wire springs holdin them. Reset piston back in bore, attach new pads, and mount back on caliper bracket. recommended to use some hi-temp brake grease (just a thin film on the caliper retaining bolts, and a dab on caliper sliding surfaces [it moves side to side]).Wont go over the rotor? Your piston is not fully seated. When you've done both sides, before you move the car, be sure to pump the brake pedal a couple of times to push the piston back out, else you will take off and wont have brakes till you pump them.Good luck.

I removed the rotor and brake pads. but when going to change the pads I can not get the piston to go back far enough to put the new ones in. How do you get the piston to push back in order to put the brake...

You will have to use a c-clamp or brake piston compressing tool to get that piston back in, while you have the brake master cylinder fluid reservoir cap off.

When fitting new rear brake pads to a 2004 Mazda 323, how do I move the pistons back into the cylinders to accomodate the new pads?

Applying pressure will make the piston go back in but you can kick and release the brake before the job is done , use a wire band to run over the piston to hold it tight so that it does not move off, the pads can be pushed into with the wire holding the piston till in place when it can be taken off.

Have taken apart but cant get new or old pads back on now. not enough space and part that should move back to make space wont seems to be jammed or siezed. have tried letting out brake fluid but didnt...

  • To install: Front
  1. Compress the piston of the disc brake caliper.
  2. Install the brake pads and caliper assembly.
  3. Lubricate the guide pin. Tighten the guide pin to 16-23 ft. lbs. (22-31 Nm).

REAR :
  1. Pull out the pad springs and then remove the pads and shims.

To install:

  1. Clean the piston end of the caliper body and the area around the pin holes. Be careful not to get oil on the rotor.
  2. Carefully turn the piston clockwise back into the caliper body (this can be done with a pair of needle nose pliers). Take care not to damage the piston boot.
  3. Coat the pad contact area on the mounting support with a silicone based grease.
A special tool is available to rotate the caliper piston

WARNING

Do not press the piston into the bore as performed on the front disc brakes. Due to the parking brake mechanism, the caliper piston must be turned into the bore.

How easy it to change front brake pads on a toyota rav 4

not hard at all.remove tires.then remove 2 screws either 12mm or 14mm that hold the brake caliper in place.remove caliper but DO NOT disconnect the brake line from the caliper.get a C-CLAMP in order to get the caliper piston pushed back in.remove old brake pads and install new ones in the same order as the old ones were removed.you will want to check the rotors to make sure they are in good condition before you install the new pads, then put caliper back on and tighten screws to specs.do the same on the other side and always remember to PUMP YOUR BRAKE PEDAL A FEW TIMES IN ORDER FOR THE CALIPER PISTONS TO ENGAGE ON THE NEW PADS. hope this info helps.good luck and take care, manny

How to fit disc pads to a 2005 craw cab

If you are installing your pads on your own, take a C clamp and one of your old pads to move the piston back into the caliper for easier installation. Make sure to pump the brakes up before moving because the additional gap needs to taken up before you will have brakes. (the fluid takes up the adjustment for disc brakes).

Changing the rear brake pads on 91 mu

Chalk the front wheels, car is on jackstands i hope, release the handbrake, use the old pad with a c- clamp to compress the pistion on the caliper, install new pads. may have to take the cap off the master cylinder, if none of this works, open the bleeder valve, and compress the piston, rebleed the caliper.

Brake replacement

take the brake caliper off, this is the part that holds and moves the brake pads thare will be 2 bolts holding it on ,one on top one on bottom. after taking bolts loose you may half to pry the caliper up and off brake rotor. once this is done remove old pads and use a brake caliper piston retraction tool to push the piston back into the caliper. you can get this tool at your local parts store or use a C clamp with one of the old brake pads to push it back.install new brake pads and install caliper .after completion make sure you pump the brakes till you get a good pedal before moving vehicle
