Car starts/runs fine most of the time, now car is driven no problem until there is a stop sign, soon the car is stopped it stalls, now you start the car again, it is hard to start, once started dash board light comes on as transmission failure, after pulling over and turn off the car and start again the dash light goes off but car stills stall if you take off your foot from the gas pedal. i have cleaned throttle body, replaced fuel filter, replaced air filter but no change, problem still exist, could it be air flow meter or to replace spark plugs. please help any advice or sugesstion

Look for an IAC sensor (motor) Idle Air Control.
Usually located on side & front of throttle body. Not 100% sure which type you'll have but if you have pintle type (pointed end) Remove it, spray it well with throttle body cleaner as well as port it came from, and retry. If it cures it temporarily & starts to do it again, replace it.

I had the same issue on my 94 xjs of it stalling when i hit the brakes. replaced everything you did including the iacv and found the problem to be the egr valve.

1995 xj6, stopped at a stop light, transmission fault code came on and engine quit. Cranks over fine but will not start. Ran perfect before that.

One possible problem that is quite common with these cars is a bad crank position sensor. when they go, it will give a crank no start. The trans code is from the stall. other potential problems bad fuel pump or fuse / relay for same, the IAC could cause a stall, but if you modulate the throttle you could get it to a least fire up a bit, same with TPS, and EGR. I would start with the fuel tpump fuse (make sure you can hear the pump building pressure, then try the CKPS, it's $110 and easy to install front passenger side of engine 10:00 one bolt and one plug. Take your time with the plug it's a squeeze and pull. the only hard part is working around the top rad hose. fuel pump would be last as it's in the tank

Problem with 95 jag XJ6

Had this problem before and found it to be the crankshaft sensor. This would be cheaper fix than the Lambda sensors.
