Question moved from 'Edge Computers'. It could be that the compressor itself is failing. It could be the electronic clutch on the unit. It could be the belt slipping if it makes a loud unnatural squealing noise. That is very low mileage at nearly 13 thousand miles, but as a 1994, the AC may need refrigerant gas.

Charge the battery with an external charger for about 6 hours, then start the engine and measure the battery voltage with the engine running. It should measure 13.5 volts or more. If it reads 12.6 or less volts, then the alternator is not recharging the battery. Take the car to Autozone or similar business for a free check out of the alternator and voltage regulator. They will be happy to sell you any needed parts. Hope this helps!

Try gently moving the shifter around while cranking the engine (while in the park position). There is a sensor in the J-shift that will prevent the proper voltage from reaching the main computer if it is out of adjustment. This problem drove me nuts until I figured it out. I would start and run fine, then it was like the fuel pump went out. Good Luck (I know it's an old post but it might help someone)

I had the same problem! All you do is call your closest Jaguar dealer and give them the serial # that is under the radio(so you have to remove the radio) they did it over the phone for me and they will give you the code, it's usually gonna be a 1- 6 combo cause thats the numbers for programming if you notice.

check your fuses and module that control those function on the vehicle

there are 2 large terminal plugs with the wiring for all the instruments that are plugged into the back of that panel. make sure they are snug and in place. You reach in and under but it may easier to "simply" remove the cluster. 4 screws hold it in place accessible form underneath and with a long phillips screwdriver and lighting.

I have had a corroded rotor or badly worn contacts inside the distributor cap. Lightly sanding takes care of that and making sure the wires are all tight to plugs.

if your car is the xj40 model the lighiting logic module is under the fascia close to the lighting switch but i think the problem is more likely to be a earth problem or simply the bulbs the twin headlamp car has one twin filament bulb on the outer and one single on the inner so if both main beam filaments fail thats what will happen

same as mine just put key in ignition and start it ands alarm will go off .i put mine down to the fact that its a show car so its left in garage with battery disconnected .

i have one but its in book form and take too long to scan it all .Try a haynes manual their not very good i admit but it might do what you want it to .
