You dont, carb cleaner only removes gunk, where an EGR valve is full of hardened carbon.

It should just unbolt. The problem is those tend to get frozen to the exhaust manifold, especially the higher mileage ones. Once you get it of, let it set in carb cleaner for awhile. If you have a flexable wire gun stock type brush, this will help aid you in this. You might even try a local machine shop for the carb solvent if you do not have any.

most of the time .the egr valve ports get stop up with carbon. you remove the egr valve . take a small screw driver or piece of coat hanger . see where you remove egr valve.clean carbon built up in hole. in the intake use shop vacuum to clean up before you remove the egr valve you have to remove the transducer first. dont disconnect the electrical connector. because you might have pcm problems.

Code P0404 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Control Circuit. How Do I g?

It could be that your EGR port is stopped up with exhaust (soot). There is usually no adjustment on an EGR valve. I would remove the EGR valve and check the port. If it is clogged up I would use carb cleaner to clean the EGR port.

Good luck
