sounds like a bad connection or bad starter, when it runs it will heat up starter. when its cold the metal or bad connection will expand and contract. check main all connections going to starter
sounds like the lost ket is a PATS key, and the new cut key, while matching tumblers in the ignition is not coded to the PCM to allow starting. recommend check with dealer, have your registration and VIN# ready, dealer can reproduce a PATS key that should start your vehicle.
