If we could run to a repair shop we would. thats why we come here for help. help. help. at least more of a suggestion than go to repair shop.
For example of a question that lacks vital information...simply look at your own question. You state it periodically won't start and you charged the battery. That's it. No info on year, if a check engine light is on, circumstances surrounding when it won't start, why you thought the battery needed charging, if any parts have been replaced to fix the problem, etc. This necessitates anyone trying to answer to guess and that leads to waste of time and money. Sorry to be so brutal but 95% of the questions asked on fixya lack basic details.
Don't call out people by name, if you have a problem, talk to Jeff. I haven't seen all his posts, the ones I have seen, I thought he gave out good info. I don't know him personally.
If he is anything like me, he is just trying to help and doesn't make a dime trying to answer questions.
I've had people grip about some of my answers and in some situations, they were correct, but, we are just trying to help. My answers are not always the best.
Please, don't get mad at me for posting.
People who answer questions on fixya site are well aware of the reasons that people come here to ask questions
WE are also well aware that the people who ask the questions firmly believe that a reset button fixes the problem, that they have the ability to know how to fix a tv with out any training, how to fix a car by replacing everything and generally do not use common sense when approaching a problem
The best place to start is to talk with a repair man to get a diagnosis of the problem first, have the fault codes read first, or simply step back and think what about the problem may be
May answers are close , some are spot on and others are looking outside the square and give a direction to the answer
We all say go to a repair shop as that is the first place to go and it generally doesn't cost to simply ask a question and if it does then that is not a place to go for repairs
Remember, if you bother to read associated answers to questions , you will see that in most cases , people who answers need a crystal ball, because the questions are --simply put--rather poorly asked so are directed to a repair shop
