Vehicles have what is known as a TPS Sensor. Throttle Positioning Sensor. When these go out you will experience these kind of symptoms. The vehicle is confused on how much throttle to give the car. It's not the way it was a long time ago - that cable from your gas pedal connects to the TPS and when it goes out that's what happens. Other symptoms will include dying on takeoff, smaller surges - going over a speed bump for instance - you'll hit the brake but the car will surge. If you've noticed any symptoms like that, this may be where your problem is. You have to get the car scanned by someone with a code reader. You can purchase the small, standard code reader from Advance for around $50 - which isn't cheap...but neither is getting a car that won't start to the parts store or garage for them to run code - and I can walk you through reading the code. It's literally plugging it in, turning the key on and then reading/resetting the codes. By scanning - if it's your TPS it will usually have a code.

Sometimes, though - like with a Ford Fusion - the problem is so short lived that the computer doesn't store the code for future reference because the system looks at it like an anomaly - that is, not a big enough problem to call home. In this case - you'll have to have a little bit better of a scanner - one that will read in real time. SO you can plug it in, drive around and if the problem pops up - you'll see it before the computer throws the message in the trash. Here's what the standard pocket scanners look like -

Apply brakes goes to floor engine idle chokes down let off goes back to normal,is thia avacumn leak problem, where to start to find?

Easy peasy ........ air will be fed to master brake cylinder from either carburetor/throttle assembly via a flexible pipe.

Find pipe and take it in turns to spray either end or length with WD40.

When engine rate increases, you've found the leak!!

Why does my 2003 ford taurus idle up when i apply the brakes

There are a few obscure potential causes, but these are less likely than the most common reason: The power assist brakes are operated by a vacuum diaphragm which is provided vacuum from the engine. When the diagram inside the brake booster has a leak, when you apply the brakes it causes a vacuum leak for the engine which will raise the idle.

With the car in park, engine running, make sure that it comes and goes every time that the pedal is depressed and released. Another way to check it is to turn off the engine, wait about five seconds, then depress the brake pedal, counting how many times it can be pressed before the assist goes away (you will see a difference).

If you can press it four times or more, the leak may be elsewhere, however if it only presses once or twice (before it gets hard, and only goes halfway down), it has a leak and will need to be replaced.

Good Luck!

1992 F250 460 cid automatic 2w drive 85000 mi. Just replaced my master cylinder, all 4 brakes, and both front rotors. Afterward I blead the brakes and got bubbles out of fluid. Problem is : when not...

There is never a test or reason to pump your brakes

Accomplishes absolutely nothing.

There is no pressure in a braking system at all,
until you SLOWLY apply the brake pedal.

Then less than 1" off movement in the master cyl,
will develop 600 to 1800 lbs at the wheels

Release the brake pedal, the system goes to zero,
IT DOES NOT HOLD ANY PRESSURE

To answer your question

You not suppost to press the pedal hard
The saying goes--you apply the brakes,
not force the pedal arm and pin into the
vacuum booster, as though you want to damage it

When your driving what happens ?
You have higher manifold vacuum and
thus your pedal is normal, why the VACUUM
brake booster

Hard brake petal

You should hear a major vacuum leak with the engine running, feel around back there and it should **** your finger intdicating where it should go.

Clicking noise coming from the Engine and car shakes when stoppin

Probably a disc brake pad scraping on a warped rotor as it goes around. When you apply the brakes the warped rotor causes the car to pulse or shake as the rotor goes around and applies the brake unevenly. You need a front brake job.

Climate control fan revs up when brakes applied

I am going to say you have a bad ground wire, check the ground wires and the terminal if its loose or bad connection. the ground terminal is located at the passenger side of dash, far right, above glove box area, bolted to the body.solid black or black with white stripe. I dont know how hard it is to get to.
