Gina, Battery could be faulty have it checked, if battery OK, check all fuses/relays,connections/plugs, damaged wires, etc., take car in and have checked for a parasitic draw.

My 1997 Plymouth Voyager, won't hold a charge to run. Would I have to change the computer of the vehicle?

Nope, I suspect just your battery. To verify, pull battery and have LOAD TESTED at any good parts store. (Advance, Autozone, etc...) They do this FREE

Replaced altenator & battery wont hold a

You either have a short or a power drain. You may have a defective mercury switch in the trunk which is leaving the light on. This would drain the battery in a few hours. Also check the switch under the hood. The easy way to check this is to unscrew the bulbs & see if that solves the problem. Good luck!

Will not hold charge

Probably a bad battery. Bring it to a parts store for a free check of the charging system and battery. They can tell you what the problem is. Either the battery is bad, or the alternator is not charging.

Will not charge battery altenator is good

Check the ground cable at both ends for a good tight and clean connection. also check that the alternator is grounded. You don't say if the battery goes dead over night or how you think it is not charging but if it takes over night. You need to check for a draw on the battery. You can do this by making sure all doors etc. are closed and things are off. Then disconnect the negative cable from the battery and hook a test light between the battery and the cable end, if it lights you have a draw. Something is on and draining the battery. Then you have to find what is draining the battery. You can pull fuses one at a time to find the circuit and go from there to pinpoint the cause

Battery not charging

I would check the altenator again. if you didnt disconnect the battery and a spark shot off while installing the new starter it could have decharged the spool on the inside of the altenator to where the spool no longer charges. if you have the altenator checked for consistant charging and it comes up good check the relay for the altenator it most like will have messed up the relay. to make a long solution short check the relay for the altenator it will be in the relay box under the hood.

1997 chevy 1500 wont stay runing

Ok, first, you need a new altemator. When you pulled off the battery cable with the truck running . it caused a voltage spike and fried the voltage regulator, which is internal on this particular altenator. If you want to check to see if the altenator is charging, use a volt meter.

Since it wouldn't start after you put the new altenator on, it could be one of two things, either you got a bad altenator which happens sometimes or, you have a weak battery and the altenator is tryng to charge itself to death.

Battery or altenator

with the engine idling, check the voltage at the battery terminals. if its between 13 and 14.6 volts the alternator is probably ok. If its below 13V you need a new alternator. above 15V same thing.
Why did u think it needed repair? is your battery not holding a charge?
